Week 5.

WEEK 5 Two more are gone this week. Luna and Chie Hori have joined those who are present only in memory now, and their passing seems to have left a lot of emotions raw and exposed. But as usual, the group has at least a little bit of time to recover. Saturday can be dedicated to rest and sleep; on Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock. The stairwells are clear of bodies; there's no more death to be dealt with for the time being. Unless, of course, you happened to recover something particularly unfortunate in your dreams... Once again, there's a new floor to explore; your reward for doing your job well. And since you've survived for a month now, you are doing your job well. However, the new floor isn't the only thing that's changed; there are a few things about the building that seem a little...off. A few things that weren't there before might be, or a few things that should be there aren't; you'll just have to see what the week brings, won't you? That is, if you're not going to be investigating all the goings-on personally... PARTICIPANTS REMAINING: 21

Which part? The powers? Yeah, last week I remembered I had cosmic space powers, but I don't remember how I got 'em. Wish I could, because I'm sure it would be quite the tale.

[But for now, it's a mystery.] You're gonna be sure to never go out alone, alright?

U-uh.... [Actually, he meant the "I think you're going to kill someone but I'm gonna make sure you don't get killed" part but sure, space powers. Those are pretty weird too.]

Yeah, I'll be careful. And I mean, i-if anything happens, I'll - I can always just call for Rick.

[Doesn't it make perfect sense? Less murder = good. Morty needs some help in staying alive. Mordecai still has to keep in mind that Morty is a potential murderer, and keeping him indoors would make things safer overall.]

...Yeah, you can do that. [Rick cared about Morty...he's positive. The boy had at least one person he could depend on.] But that means no lyin' on the stairs late at night, you hear?

[mortyfied]

[He'll nod in reply.]

G-got it. I just thought, y'know... it's not past ten yet so I didn't think it was going to be dangerous if I did.

Morty, this place is becomin' as wide and empty as the red plains of Mars. It was one thing when all twenty-nine of us were stuck on one floor, but now that we got all this space, it's gonna get more dangerous.

[He watches Morty, hoping that he's still paying attention. He's not going to get too close to look him in the eye.]

Trouble doesn't go away at daylight. Sometimes, that's the most dangerous time.

.... [He just kind of stares at the ground, looking a bit guilty. Mostly because he felt dumb for sitting on the stairs alone when it's apparently dangerous even during the day.]

Y-you don't really think someone's gonna commit murder again... do you?

[Mordecai looks at the wall, thinking.]

I don't know. But you can never be to safe. From my experiences livin' on a frontier planet, just because it's generally accepted that stealin' and killin' ain't good doesn't people folks will still do it.

[mortyfied]

But... [No, he can't even say "we're all friends here!" as an excuse to try and make himself feel better. He knows there's still always the chance Rick gets bored or finally snaps, and then it'd all just start over again. Even then, there's still probably someone else here who's the same...]

[Morty appears to understand. There's a sense of caution you develop when living somewhere deadly as this, and there are a few people here who need to be taught that more than others, Morty included.

They can't afford another trial.]

I'll be headin' downstairs. Be sure not to stay out too late.

...o-okay. [Yeah, he definitely was starting to understand. Though he still wants to try and believe in everyone, believe that they wouldn't do something like this again but after having been through so many trials already.... it's starting to feel like it's just a naive hope at this point.]
