Week 5.
Two more are gone this week. Luna and Chie Hori have joined those who are present only in memory now, and their passing seems to have left a lot of emotions raw and exposed. But as usual, the group has at least a little bit of time to recover. Saturday can be dedicated to rest and sleep; on Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock. The stairwells are clear of bodies; there's no more death to be dealt with for the time being. Unless, of course, you happened to recover something particularly unfortunate in your dreams... Once again, there's a new floor to explore; your reward for doing your job well. And since you've survived for a month now, you are doing your job well. However, the new floor isn't the only thing that's changed; there are a few things about the building that seem a little...off. A few things that weren't there before might be, or a few things that should be there aren't; you'll just have to see what the week brings, won't you? That is, if you're not going to be investigating all the goings-on personally... |

staircase
[she's walking down the stairs when she sees him, and gives him a concerned look.]
What are you doing, sitting there? Somebody could trip on you and break their neck!
no subject
Um.. I was just thinkin'...but I guess there's better places for that, huh?
no subject
... If it'd be okay, I could come and think with you. I could use some thoughts.
no subject
[He gets to his feet then, and brushes his pants off a little.]
Do you wanna find a couch or something?
no subject
idly dusts off her skirt and smiles at him.] What did you want to ask?
no subject
Um.. you and Rick have been getting along pretty well lately -- did he say something that made you change your mind about him? [He's really just curious about it more than anything else, everyone here is so vehemently against Rick but Sukuyo made him a plate of croquettes and Rick doesn't speak ill of her. It's weird...]
no subject
... Ah, he'd probably be really mad at me if he knew! You can keep it a secret, right?
no subject
His curiosity's really got the best of him, and he scoots a little closer to Sukuyo and leans in.]
...I won't tell anyone else about it, I promise.
no subject
And yes, we were. It was over his treatment of you, just like all the other times... I guess I said something that really hit a nerve, because he got so upset, he accidentally called me by your mom's name. After that, he got really... pliant, I guess. He let me ask him three questions.
... He loves you. All of you. But, for some reason, he doesn't think he deserves to be loved back. I think he's afraid to hurt you... It's all very sad. I wish there was a way to tell him that's not true, and have him believe it.
no subject
He got extremely upset, he called her Beth...
And he told her he loved him? All of them? And... and...]
H-he's scared to hurt me...?
[Morty's voice is very, very quiet - he looks really confused. It's not like he thought Rick hated him or something, but he never heard the words "I love you" from his grandfather before. He's never thought it was possible for Rick to care so much that he was scared to hurt them... that he didn't think he deserved love back.
This.. this was a really heavy thing to drop on him like that, Sukuyo.]
no subject
[sighs deeply] I told him he needs to say it out loud, to you. I told him he needs to say the words, "I love you." Because if something goes wrong, and either of you, well... If it happened before he got to say it, it'd be just too tragic.
no subject
Honestly, hearing that just kind of hurt. Because Rick told it to Sukuyo before him, because Morty was already aware that Rick cared but always kind of doubted it anyway -- because of the mention of something happening before Rick had the chance to say it. And even more because of the most recent memory Morty had remembered.. Rick told Morty he was going to ice cream and left him and his family for stranded.
He didn't know why Rick left but after hearing this, all he could think was that it was either because he didn't want to hurt them or because he had lied to Sukuyo about actually caring. Rick lied so much, it's not like that'd be a stretch...
..but that wasn't right, was it?]
[He continues to silently stare at his lap for a few moments while lost in thought before finally he moves -- a hand reaching up to wipe at tears starting to spill onto the boy's cheeks. Good job Sukuyo, you managed to be the first thing to push Morty hard enough to cry.]
no subject
You shouldn't cry. It's a very sad thing, but now that you know about it, you can... You can help him. With whatever it is he needs help with. This place, as terrible as it is, has given you that chance! You can't let it go to waste.
