Afterparty 5.0

[There's not much that can be believed about that trial. Or that execution. Still, like before, two hours after everyone leaves, they'll find a note slipped underneath their doors.]

We have to stick together. The dining room is there for anyone that needs a quiet space, and I cooked dinner.

Hibiki made some coffee and dessert for all of us.

[Today's selection includes potato pancakes and a light coffee cake. Hibiki has lit two more candles in the dining hall. It doesn't take long before Mordecai lights a third.]

Oh, Jesus. Vampires are supposed to be these...bloodsucking guys. Like they can't hang around in the daylight or else they'll burn up or get blisters or something. And they don't like garlic. And they sleep in coffins.

They aren't what he was. Least not what I've heard.

Well, he had a coffin and he drank blood, but the rest... euuugh, that's ridiculous. At least we have one less thing to worry about. Those children didn't deserve any of that.

Guy was a freak. Good riddance. [ He looks over to the little memorial, the candles that flicker. He's trying really, really hard not to cry, and not having much luck with it. ]

How old were they again? Why would you do that?

He must have had a reason, but I'm sure it wasn't a very good one. Spite against the Conductor seems to be the most of it.

What a sicko. [ He sniffs, itching his nose with the arm of his jacket sleeve. ] Screw him, then.

Maybe thing'll finally wind down.

I don't think anybody could be as bad as that guy, right? I mean, he took another guy's body, or whatever! Nobody here's that big of a nut, are they?

I'm certainly not! I have no idea how that even works.

See? There's nobody that's as crazy as Dio was. Maybe now that we got all the crazy people...ah, taken care of, things can wind down.

I certainly hope so. ...I'm glad, though, that you're believing in it.

I'm tryin' to. Feels like things can't get any more worse than they are.

Even though you know they might.

Do you think it'll be another harsh incentive?

I...really hope not. We're all goin' crazy enough as it is.

How does he even know? The Conductor?

Like, how does he know what pisses people off? Like with Chie, and Dio...

It just feels...I don't know. I mean...

I'm just kinda rambling. Sorry.

It's just as well. He does know a fair bit, doesn't he? Even I'm almost afraid to ask.

....hey, have you sent any letters? You were the one who told me to talk to the Conductor more...nicely, right?

Did any of yours go through?

To... people back home? I haven't. I don't know what I would say.

What about the Conductor? He wrote back to that letter I wrote.

The one you helped me write. I mean, it didn't help with anything, but still.

Ah, he did? What did he tell you?

Yeah.

...I think he just said to wait it out or something. There was a purpose for us being here and that we had to wait. Or something like that.

Kinda don't remember.

Wait? Do you think that means make it through a week without anyone succumbing to the incentive?
