Afterparty 5.0

[There's not much that can be believed about that trial. Or that execution. Still, like before, two hours after everyone leaves, they'll find a note slipped underneath their doors.]

We have to stick together. The dining room is there for anyone that needs a quiet space, and I cooked dinner.

Hibiki made some coffee and dessert for all of us.

[Today's selection includes potato pancakes and a light coffee cake. Hibiki has lit two more candles in the dining hall. It doesn't take long before Mordecai lights a third.]

[ If it's why Rakka's real name literally reads as "connected nut"...... Well, it's probably not about that, but he would be of an incredible lack of help there anyway. ]

[And then Hibiki sniffles. She's going to cry, she's really going to cry. She wipes at her eyes.]

Do you think we gave Rakka any good memories? Any at all? I told her...I told her that even here, I'd show her things to be happy about, but...but...

[ Oh no oh man no he is not equipped to have this conversation but also he thinks maybe he needs to make an effort here. Even he would have to admit it'd be the dick move of the century to just walk away or opt out of replying. That doesn't change the fact that he has no idea what to do or say.

Awkwardly, he puts a hand on her shoulder. Touching, that's comforting, right. ]

We did. I'm sure of it, I mean — this situation sucks, but it's not like it's been all shitty, right? There's gotta be something that made you feel alright during the whole time we've been here, rig ht? It's gotta be like that for all of us. I mean, when we all stop being able to feel alright at all, then we basically already gave up on trying to find something better.

[ He tried really hard, Hibiki, how many stars out of 5 does he get. ]

Sayin' it sucks is a bit of an understatement, don't ya think.

[She almost sounds like she's scolding him, but she's thankful for that distraction.]

We're the only memories she has aside from what she's been dreamin' about. And...and because of that, I promised to teach her some really good things. I wish we could have done more for her. I can't...stop thinkin' about both of 'em.

[Hibiki appears to be comforted, but she also appears to be continuing to have emotions. Good job, Bakugou.]

I hope we can talk to them soon.

[ He's killing it at this "being a decent person" thing!! ]

... Yeah. It's even worse 'cause she doesn't even remember what it's like to be anywhere but here, but all of them... they're still around. I don't know, maybe it's stupid to think, but maybe they can still be saved somehow.

[nankurunaisa]

If there's a way, I'll do it! [She blurts that out without even pausing to think.] Savin' everyone...it's something I've gotta do. I wouldn't think it was possible, but maybe in this place...maybe it is.

Yeah. We have to try, at least. I mean, who knows what the fuck is going on with them, but they're probably still just trying to help us get out alive, so... we have to return the favor. We owe them that much...

[ He's aware that this sounds stupid and impossible and yet... he really does want to believe that this is possible, somehow. ]

Alright! Since we both want to try, even though we both know it should be impossible...let's do our best together! You can count on me, so I'm gonna count on you, okay?

[ And that gets a tiny crack of a smile out of him, somehow! ]

As if you should even have to ask. [ Because he just screams dependable, right? /s ] Besides, it'll be uncool if a hero doesn't manage to save everybody properly.

You better work hard, then, Bakugou! If I save everyone first, maybe I'll be the number one idol and the number one hero!

Ha, as if! I still have experience on my side.

... But I guess it'd be okay to split the credit.

Hmhmhm! Okay, we'll split the credit! I'll be number one hero, and you can be number one idol!

Well, fuck, I guess I have to work on my pirouettes now.

The person who taught me? Eh, I guess she was alright. You know, for somebody teaching twirling and all.

[ He's kidding. And this time, I don't even have to add "mostly" at the end of that sentence! ]

Just alright, huh? Well, I heard she thinks her student only "kinda" passed. Needs a bit more work.

Eh, that's fair, I guess. You don't need talent to work hard... or however the saying goes.
