Afterparty 5.0

[There's not much that can be believed about that trial. Or that execution. Still, like before, two hours after everyone leaves, they'll find a note slipped underneath their doors.]

We have to stick together. The dining room is there for anyone that needs a quiet space, and I cooked dinner.

Hibiki made some coffee and dessert for all of us.

-Mordecai Benmont Jiminy and Hibiki Ganaha

[Today's selection includes potato pancakes and a light coffee cake. Hibiki has lit two more candles in the dining hall. It doesn't take long before Mordecai lights a third.]
oftheland: no crimelording here! (why officer i'm completely law-abiding)

I guess you could say that Pokemon are our animals... but they're still not quite the same, I suppose. Like, Beedrill has the presence of mind to show restraint, and I think it's easier to tell what he's thinking even without the sort of experience that you have than it is with, say, the chickens.

[he is such a good bee. the best bee, actually.]

Actually, that was what I was meaning to speak with you about, since you... get regular animals and I really don't.

There's no such thing as a regular animal, Giovanni-san. You need to remember that every animal has a personality and somethin' about them that makes them different. Even different breeds of the same animal can have extreme differences like diet, personality, and size.

[Let's see, where does Beedrill like being touched, because Hibiki has probably found the most insanely perfect, 11/10 "pet there more" place by now.]

So what do you wanna know?

Oh, I mean "regular" in the sense that I'm pretty sure none of them breathe fire rather than "regular" in that they're some sort of monolithic entity with nothing strange about them whatsoever.

[it's the forehead, the forehead is the best.]

...well... I think it might be interesting to sort of cross reference and compare and contrast animals and Pokemon, really, because there seem to be a lot of equivalents and I'm interested in learning what they are, exactly.

There are beetles that can mix chemicals in their bodies to create a bomb effect and there are sharks that can swallow barrels whole. And chickens are so good at creating eggs that there over 50 billion of 'em a year, feedin' the entire world!

[She's saying that there's "animals" and "Pokemon," not "regular animals" and "Pokemon." She takes offense to them being called ordinary!]

Hmm, hmm. So you're sayin' that you wanna know more about bees because they look like your handsome guy? Hehe, yes, you are! Or somethin' similar?
oftheland: (but that is not how type matchups work)

Oh, well, nobody told me about those. I'm glad to hear that, actually, because it makes things a lot more interesting. What about ice?

Something similar, mostly. Like, I definitely know about bees by now, but I'd like to know a little more about... rhinoceros, I guess? Well, you know what I mean. I know my Pokemon are going to resemble certain animals, but I don't always know which ones or enough about them to explain how they're different.
nankurunaisa: (44; Don't put that there)

What about ice? I know there are foxes that can live where it's really cold...as cold as -50°C. Can you be a bit more specific?

[Arctic foxes, also cute.]

Hmm...rhinoceroses aren't really common anywhere. They're really endangered, so there aren't a lot of 'em left. There are lots of animals like that.

Oh, I mean breathing ice rather than just living in cold climates. You know, as you do.

[will pokemon ever introduce an ice canine that isn't an eeveelution, who the fuck knows]

Ahh, that's really a shame. Some Pokemon are much rarer than others, as well, but it's usually not quite as dire in that situation.
