Week 6.

WEEK 6 Losing three people in one week isn't very nice, is it? Morty Smith, Rakka, and Dio Brando have all joined the deceased. It will be hard to forget them. It will be even harder to forget that execution and Dio's flying, screaming head. Life must go on though and as usual, the group has at least a little bit of time to recover. Saturday can be dedicated to rest and sleep; on Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock. The stairwells are clear of bodies; there's no more death to be dealt with for the time being. Unless, of course, you happened to recover something particularly unfortunate in your dreams... Once again, there's a new floor to explore; your reward for doing your job well. Some of your antics have resulted in more rule changes, effective immediately. You might want to avoid breaking those if you're fond of staying alive. But then again, there are ghosts. Maybe dying wouldn't be so bad after all. The creature has been on everybody's minds for some time, so it wouldn't be surprising. He surely wouldn't leave us to fend for ourselves.

I mean, I'd prefer if he just gave us a break for once, but I really doubt that's the case. He's really been going for the throat over the past two weeks, so I don't see him letting up.

He might also need to... regroup. After the disaster this past week, that is. It's just a theory.

True enough, true enough. I have to admit, hearing that extra bit of frustration in his voice as he had to find a way to deal with Dio's severed head made my heart smile.

You really do hate him, don't you? Though I suppose it's only natural, us being trapped and all.

[oftheland]

I don't know if "hate" is the word I'd use, but... really, there's something satisfying when the person who's currently making your life difficult has to deal with things not going as planned.

On the other hand, now so do we.

...yeah, you're right. I don't doubt that we can still make it, but that was really one hell of a blow.

What was he even thinking...?

I'm sure he thought it was the best choice, even if he was wrong. That's just what we're all doing. Dealing with what we decided to do to survive.

But he said he knew how to fight those things, didn't he? Everything we've been given so far has basically implied that light is key and that you can't kill the thing with just a sword.

The Conductor banned weapons from the courtroom and took the steak knives. It might well be possible that they do something, just not enough.

I guess that's true, but for all we know it just creates an extra mess for him to deal with instead of anything worthwhile. I guess hindsight is 20/20, but... mostly, I'm wondering why Logan didn't take the extra precautions that actually were available to him.

Pride, possibly. It's... what I would've done.

...I hope this doesn't sound rude, but that's probably the worst application of pride I've heard of.

Thinking you can take the creature, that it won't harm anyone else if they're not involved?

[oftheland]

...no, I mean thinking I can take it when I'm not using all the resources that I can without getting anybody else involved.

You mean the... light. I wonder what he was thinking.

[oftheland]

Exactly. If he'd gone about everything else in the same fashion but he'd brought any light source whatsoever to have a little extra protection against the creature, I'd be less confused by the whole thing. As it stands, though... why didn't he go for that?

I'm not sure. Didn't Officer Cabanela say that Logan had said he knew how to fight a shadow like that in his home?

[oftheland]

Right, but I thought he'd said that conventional weaponry was somewhat less effective than light and fire.

Then I'm not sure. He must have had a plan, even if it didn't work.

...I really do wonder. I guess we could always ask him at some point, but I don't know if we're up for another seance yet.

I can't believe the last one actually worked.

I'm not entirely sure if I can, either, but I'm not going to complain.
