Week 6.

WEEK 6

Losing three people in one week isn't very nice, is it? Morty Smith, Rakka, and Dio Brando have all joined the deceased. It will be hard to forget them. It will be even harder to forget that execution and Dio's flying, screaming head.

Life must go on though and as usual, the group has at least a little bit of time to recover. Saturday can be dedicated to rest and sleep; on Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock. The stairwells are clear of bodies; there's no more death to be dealt with for the time being. Unless, of course, you happened to recover something particularly unfortunate in your dreams...

Once again, there's a new floor to explore; your reward for doing your job well.

Some of your antics have resulted in more rule changes, effective immediately. You might want to avoid breaking those if you're fond of staying alive.

But then again, there are ghosts. Maybe dying wouldn't be so bad after all.

I doubt they would have hid it if it wasn't important.

[ On the other hand... ]

... unless it was someone trying to mess with us, but I don't think that's what it is.

I don't think so either.

[ There's a pause before he adds: ] It feels kinda like a game, doesn't it? A fucked-up game, but still.

[ He's pretty sure this is a classic video game mechanic. Pick up mysterious key here, keep it in your inventory because it might be relevant later. ]

[ Jean may not know video games, but the assessment strikes him as accurate all the same. ]

Yeah, like some sort of a scavenger hunt.

[ Once Jean is done making sure the key doesn't go to one of the drawers, he pockets it. ]

It's just hard to guess who set it all up.
blazeit: (i might be a bastard but you're stupid s)

You got me there too... I mean, it's not like the Conductor said he was gonna keep us here forever at any point, so I guess this much could still all be part of his plan.

... Anyway, what do you think the key goes to? It looks too small for a door key, doesn't it.

[ Is that the question of the year? In a couple days, Jean will remember that the clock in the lobby has a locking door that this key could fit. But for now... ]

It looks like something you'd use for a jewelry box or a cabinet.
blazeit: (a thoughtful bakugou is... strange)

[personal profile] blazeit 2015-12-12 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
A cabinet, huh... maybe something in the mail room, then?

[ Nice try, Bakugou. Try paying attention to furniture more. ]
openterrain: (ᴏʜ where do we begin)

[personal profile] openterrain 2015-12-12 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
[ Jean slants Bakugou a slightly exasperated look. ]

The only thing in there is the drop box. I don't see any point in stealing someone's mail.
blazeit: (he smol)

[personal profile] blazeit 2015-12-12 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, you don't know if that's all that's in there. [ ... ] But yeah, I guess there isn't much in there... There's really not that much furniture in any of these rooms, though, so it's gotta just be a process of elimination.

[ Whatever you say, man. Jean can't deny that Bakugou is pretty much right, however. ]

Do piano lids have locks? Maybe something got hidden in one of those.
blazeit: (don't be such a tittybaby)

[personal profile] blazeit 2015-12-12 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think pianos do, but sometimes the benches... And since the key's on this floor, maybe we need to keep looking around the new rooms that've opened up.

[ Not that Bakugou has been a very diligent investigator of things. ]

Maybe a better question to ask in the short-term is... where do you think's the safest place to keep it?
openterrain: (ᴛᴏ my own devices)

[personal profile] openterrain 2015-12-12 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[ That's the really pressing question, isn't it? There's no way they're going to find whatever this goes too right away, not when it might be in a room they haven't even been able to access yet.

After a moment, he reaches into his shirt and pulls out a... necklace? It's just a leather cord with a pair of the Earrings of Evil's Destruction wound onto them, and Jean doesn't hesitate to unknot the cord and slide the ring on next to the charms.
]

Better than nothing, right?
blazeit: (ominous af)

[personal profile] blazeit 2015-12-12 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Well, now he knows where to loot that key should anything happen to Jean.

... He's not going to say that aloud because whoo that is morbid, but he would be surprised if Jean wasn't thinking something along those lines as well. ]

... Yeah, that's probably the safest option for the short-term. Depends on how long it takes to figure out where it goes to, I guess.
