Resistance Meeting 4: Live Free or Resist Hard

[ Early Saturday morning, long before the meeting could reasonably be expected to take place, there's a fresh note slipped under everyone's doors:

Please bring as many letters from the Conductor as you saved. Not only yours, but those of the deceased, if you have them/COULD find them. We NEED to compile what we know.

In the hopes of easing any understandable reluctance, every letter brought grants you the right to hear one of my secrets/embarrassing stories at your leisure.

Wow, that must have been a pain to write 10 times... let alone 26, just in case anyone else has been playing musical rooms. Or maybe Youko had insomnia last night. Who knows? What matters is that she'll be in the Conference Room from 9AM onwards, nursing a cup of that Anteiku Coffee and writing things sporadically into a notebook from time to time. She's... also still wearing Logan's spare goddamn clothes, because apparently that is going to be a thing.

But hey: at least there's two large plates piled with biscuits/cookies and the fancy candies from the kitchen! As well as 11 plates because we are not savages, oh my god. ]

Anyway, the main point... I don't think the point is killing us all. There's something else he wants out of all of this.

... He also told me this is probably going to be the last round of this exercise.

He did say he was going to let us all hold him accountable sooner or later. Going by his definitions, I doubt he's planning on leaving that alive.

Yeah, he pretty much said as much that he expected us to kill him. Which I'm... I don't know. Kinda getting really tired of being surrounded by death at this point.

... Besides, I think he also expects this God guy to smite him either way.

If "God" wants to smite him, then by all means. But I don't think we should leave him here alive. Who's to say he won't just do this again if we give him the chance?

[ ... Yeah, he doesn't even want to fight this battle right now. In fact, it's safe to say he doesn't care about fighting this battle. He knows it only takes one of them to decide the Conductor should be dead to make it happen, there's going to be no majority rules then. ]

Well, first things first and that involves actually getting out of this shithole.

Of course. It doesn't really matter now, does it?

[They can go back and forth about morality all day, but until they've got the man in their power it's worse than meaningless. It's a waste of time.]

It sounds like he plans to give us some kind of choice on his own. But we can't just leave it all up to him to decide.

Some kind of choice... what do you mean by that?

A chance to hold him accountable? Like he mentioned before.

Nah, no way, he'd probably be be totally hands-off so that it can fully sink in how fucked-up we all have gotten if-slash-when we freak out and, I don't know, become the law and set up some suitably ironic execution for him.

[ Enough of this verbal shitposting, though. ]

The fact that he thinks that we're going to have a chance to hold him accountable at all is weird, isn't it? Like it was planned for some of us to survive from the start.

What does he get out of this, if he thinks we're just going to kill him anyway?

Well, judging by that red book, maybe seeing whether his experiments worked?

I suppose. He'd get more data if we all lived a bit longer...

Yeah, or maybe he's seeing if the effects still last even if we're all stressed as fuck...?

...do you think they are? If part of it was to take our memories, those have been coming back.

I don't think so... he's said a couple of times, the person who probably took our memories and our powers is God. ... Then again, I guess he could be lying.

He could be lying about everything.

That'd be one really huge, really elaborate lie, though.

... I dunno, my gut says he isn't lying about the important stuff. Whenever he doesn't want to answer something I ask, he just says he's not going to answer.
