Resistance Meeting 4: Live Free or Resist Hard

[ Early Saturday morning, long before the meeting could reasonably be expected to take place, there's a fresh note slipped under everyone's doors:

Please bring as many letters from the Conductor as you saved. Not only yours, but those of the deceased, if you have them/COULD find them. We NEED to compile what we know.

In the hopes of easing any understandable reluctance, every letter brought grants you the right to hear one of my secrets/embarrassing stories at your leisure.

Wow, that must have been a pain to write 10 times... let alone 26, just in case anyone else has been playing musical rooms. Or maybe Youko had insomnia last night. Who knows? What matters is that she'll be in the Conference Room from 9AM onwards, nursing a cup of that Anteiku Coffee and writing things sporadically into a notebook from time to time. She's... also still wearing Logan's spare goddamn clothes, because apparently that is going to be a thing.

But hey: at least there's two large plates piled with biscuits/cookies and the fancy candies from the kitchen! As well as 11 plates because we are not savages, oh my god. ]

If it weren't for all the death and killing, he'd be kind of a fun guy to talk to.

Oh, I definitely agree. He seems like the kind of person I'd come to like if it weren't for... all this.

["all this" meaning "fucking over people he's come to like," not the death and killing part]

Yeah, I'm not gonna lie, he seems like the kind of sick fuck who would fit right in with our particular group of sick fucks. I guess that's why he says we remind him of his old coworkers, though.

...it's true. As much as I have some amount of fondness for everyone here, I have to admit that there are definitely some of them I could see being even worse if they were in the same position as the Conductor...

... I hadn't thought of it like that before, but it's true. He's not totally unreasonable and is at least mostly okay to talk to. The only annoying part is when he says "I'm not going to answer that", and even then that's better than being straight-up lied to.

I think the message we need to take away from this is "Some people really shouldn't be given power over life and death, even if they're pretty decent otherwise."

Especially not some guy who kills people his own sister would rather not be dead. Because he was bored.

Well, sometimes your own desires can be a bit... at odds with your family members' desires, and that's completely understandable. Although... this is going a bit far, I think.

Yeah, it kinda is...

Still, I think it's weird he brings her up... at all.

You'd think that he'd avoid talking about something like that, given the amount of work he's been putting into hiding his identity and distancing himself from the lot of us.

I guess that means either his personal life isn't related to any of this, so he feels like it's safe to talk about, or that she's related to this than in some non-obvious way.

...Just throwing it out there, but do we know she isn't Lisbeth?

I guess that's true, but I still have to wonder.

...do we know if she's dead or not, actually?

[ He points at this line in his notes, while also making a face like he's mildly nauseous: i told him something like that and he said: “...You sound like my sister when you say things like that; I've no doubt that if she had ever had children, at least one of you would have come out like you.” ]

Well, that makes it sound like she's dead.

Well, death isn't the only thing that can render someone unable to have children... but I see your point.

The incredible amounts of death he seems to surround himself with kinda makes me feel like death is more likely too.

...yeah, that's true. Honestly... she's probably very dead and likely has been for some time.

Maybe he killed them because she didn't want them dead. Because he wanted to see how she'd react.

It's probably not an important thing, I know - but if I'm right, then we certainly have a little more insight into his character. It's a more... idiosyncratic thing than just happening to kill people she'd rather stay alive.

He told me why he did it.

No, that's what I'm saying. He was bored, bored enough to want to see how his sister would react if he did that.

Nah, the fact that he killed people wasn't intentional. He just didn't realize it was going to be a big deal to her.
