Take Responsibility.

After a while, the door at the bottom of those stairs unlocks and it swings open gently of its own accord, allowing everyone back down into the courtroom; it's not as bad as it was last week, but again, there are decidedly fewer of them than there were last time.

The podium circle has changed once again, with Rick, Tabby and Sukuyo joining the ranks of the deceased, their podiums draped with black cloth and adorned with greyscale photographs. The shadows are quiet down in the darkness of the pit; for the time being, it's hard to say what the pit itself looks like after the explosion last week.

One way or another, we'll find out by the end of the day.

As usual, the proceedings are being watched from behind that panel of glass behind podium 30; he'll speak as soon as everyone has found their place in the circle.

"Familial has been taken from you. Regardless of what her affiliation was – whether she was with me or the lot of you – you know what you have to do by now. There can be no hesitation; you should offer no mercy.

It's you against the guilty. Take control of your fate, and hold them responsible.
"

Ten Participants remain. However many more we lose today is up to you.

That's what I'm wondering. It was too big to be clothes, I think, but it wasn't huge either.

There was bruising around Sukuyo's face, and she looked relatively peaceful - do you think the object could have been a pillow, and that she was suffocated with it?

[That sounds like a pretty terrible way to die, too.

Cabanela grips at his sleeve for a moment.]

We can't rule anything out right now, can we?
withabigsmile: (the fuck did you just say to me)

[personal profile] withabigsmile 2015-12-19 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
...What about a cloth? Like a napkin?

Could you suffocate someone with that?
blazeit: (shitlord levels unusually low rn)

[personal profile] blazeit 2015-12-19 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean... if your hand's big enough, you could suffocate a person that way too.
sunsong: (Default)

[personal profile] sunsong 2015-12-19 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but again, the signs of suffocation are pretty different from what Susan apparently found, right? It's not like suffocation is a nice way to go.
blazeit: (he looks so innocent but it's a trap)

[personal profile] blazeit 2015-12-19 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I think so too. Her dying from being laced with sleeping pills seems more likely, I think?

The point is, I don't think the cloth was used to suffocate her. Jean also said that it was probably pretty big, so that doesn't match up with using it to suffocate her either.

[personal profile] sunsong 2015-12-19 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I concur about that bein' a more likely cause of death. That or some other sort of pill...

In that case...what do we think someone would have burned up...? It clearly had to be incriminatin', somehow.
blazeit: (a thoughtful bakugou is... strange)

[personal profile] blazeit 2015-12-19 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
There's no evidence that the killer was injured, so it's probably not for that reason... But the only thing I can think of is there was something on the cloth.
sunsong: (DECLARE ♫ no i'm good.)

[personal profile] sunsong 2015-12-19 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
That makes sense to me...I'm just blankin' on what would be on it. Maybe they got rat poison on their shirt or something?
icysemblance: (Default)

[personal profile] icysemblance 2015-12-19 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
It would have been easy enough to just wash the shirt, though, right? They wouldn't have needed to burn it just from that.

You said Sukuyo's bedsheets were all messed up. Were any missing?
announcemyvictory: Sad. (and so is the girl)

[personal profile] announcemyvictory 2015-12-19 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you think a sheet was used to carry evidence and throw it in that way?

Susan said the bruising was like a hand, though, right? That's why I asked what it looked like. Bruisin' from suffocation would be a bit different, wouldn't it?
