WEEK 3.

WEEK 3
You all got to witness Yosuke Hanamura's death earlier this past week. You know what the punishment for breaking the rules is. With Chitoge Kirisaki and Blue's deaths, you're painfully aware of just how little trust this group really has. How long until someone kills again? What about that time limit the Coordinators imposed? Will there be another incentive?

There are so many questions, but not a whole lot of answers.

Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost...

And when you wake up, you'll discover that a pattern seems to be emerging, at least as far as the building itself goes; a new floor is available to you, a stairwell across a short hallway from the one on the second floor having unlocked itself. There's not too much of a question about it as a result - at least, as far as what it means.

It's definitely a reward.

[ ... Alright, well, Yuri is admittedly expecting something because he's the type who actually does believe in his friends. Though, he's not sure what it is and--that sounds like it could be a big deal, actually. A button might be a thing that ends up as 'press it and it opens the exit somewhere' or something like that.

Maybe that's a little too easy, though. ]

Not bad, Estelle. Maybe if we're lucky, it could be something that helps us all with getting straight out of this place.

The mechanism might be in a room nearby the library too.

[ He really wouldn't know about that either, but eh. ]

It could very well be. Maybe if we have another meeting we could discuss it. They seem to happen on Tuesdays, so perhaps then.

[At least the last two happened on Tuesday so she thinks that's a good prediction.]

After all, I imagine others have been investigating since it's been discussed so heavily.

[Listen, Estelle's just proud she investigated and she got to find something cool, like a detective in a book. Next she'll get to collaborate with other detectives and solve a huge mystery!

In a sense, this is making her feel better because it's making her forget things that she wants to forget.]

The old man's probably gonna set up another one this Tuesday, so might as well. Maybe someone might've even found the mechanism if others have been searching.

[ Yuri, as always, plans on attending, though he'll likely be just listening in and stuffing his face full of food. ]

Or maybe someone's ended up finding something else important--either way, I don't doubt people are looking around. So, naturally there's gonna be a lot to talk about.

[ It's amazing what focusing on something can do. It ends up being much better than the alternative. ]

Yes. I truly hope we can compile our information and get a new lead.

[It's better than the alternative, indeed. She wants to find a way out and she will, God help her. Help all of them, really.]

If you're not feeling the best then I can only imagine how this place is wearing on other people.

I hope so too.

[ The way Yuri says it sounds more like 'It's going to happen' than simply hoping, though.

At the very least, what Estelle says next leaves Yuri an opening for a proper check in - there's no more distractions and Yuri's no good with beating around the bush. ]

Speaking of how this place can be a pain...have you been holding up alright?

[She nods and even hums a note of affirmation.]

I mean, the murders haven't been okay, but I'm doing fine otherwise.

[There's that fake cheer in her voice, but she's already decided she's not going to burden Yuri. Once she's made a decision, she's stubborn about it. She clasps her hands behind her back as she continues to walk.]

You seemed to have a lot on your mind, however. I wouldn't mind listening if it helped.

[Don't let her talk about her dream, is what she's saying. She doesn't want to talk about it-- she doesn't want to be chastised again.]

[ Of all the things he wants to talk about, his dream is not one of them, because that's the thing that's on his mind. Normally, he might not mind, but considering what he had resolved to do in the dream concerning Estelle, he actually believes it'd be actually...detrimental to bring it up now. ]

I wouldn't really call it a lot. I'm not really the type of guy to really dwell on too much stuff for long, you know?

[ He shrugs. ]

I mean, there's the whole thing about our situation, but it'd be pretty hard not to really think about that.

[Well, Estelle can't really say much to try to get Yuri to talk when she's tight lipped herself. Probably better that way, right? It's not like it's the first time Estelle's attempted to hide things from Yuri.]

Yes, you're right. It's really hard not to think about that and how we can't trust another.

[She smiles a bit wider.]

Though people have told me I'm lucky that I have you here, Yuri. [That she has someone she can trust.]

[ Alllllright, Yuri stops walking and turns to face her as a few thoughts go through his head, and he's feeling a little impatient. Maybe if the situation wasn't what it was, they could afford to be dodgy or something. But, he's not sure if that's always going to be wise. ]

Yeah?

[ ... ]

But we can trust each other, right?

[There's a moment where she gives him a confused look before she smiles-- the most sincere smile she's given Yuri today.]

I don't think that should even be a question. Of course I trust you, Yuri, and you know you can trust me.

[Her trust in Yuri is something that's unshakable-- and she's told him before that if he ever had to turn a blade against her, she'll have done something to deserve it. It's something she still believes even now.]

Yeah, of course.

[ For his credit, Yuri doesn't sound dismissive at all. He supposes it's only natural feel bothered--especially when in his dream he pretty much is sure he resolved himself to do something he never thought he'd seriously consider.

The time where he's said that he might turn his blade on Estelle doesn't count, but honestly. ]

... We haven't talked about what we saw in our dreams yet, huh? I don't think I even got a chance to tell you about last week's.

[When he brings up the dreams, Estelle immediately gets defensive. One of her arms crosses her body to grab her other arm and she hunches forward a bit. A sure sign that she's bothered by what she's dreamt about and maybe doesn't want to talk about it. So they're in the same boat, but for different reasons, it seems.

She just said she can trust Yuri, but here she is contradicting herself by acting like this.]

I... no we haven't talked about them. [When they first spoke they seemed to be from 'different' times it felt. He had no idea about Belius... about Estelle's sin.

...so she's not sure how he'll feel about what she saw in her dreams even if she knows how he'll react to one of them. Still, it's because of that she doesn't want to tell Yuri.]

[ It's only when Estelle has that sort of reaction that Yuri weighs if he should or shouldn't have them talk about it - it's different when he's sure that whatever might be bothering her is related to a dream. Kind of.

Well, he'll just decide to ultimately leave it out there as an option and probably just leave it at that. ]

I thought it might be a good idea to bring it up since there's the whole weird thing going on with them. But, it doesn't really matter to me if we talk about it or not.

[ If she indicates she doesn't want to, he'll just end up ultimately changing the subject or something. ]

[She knows what this is leading to. It's Yuri telling her to make a choice and that he's not going to force a decision on to her. He's always been like this so it's not really much of a shock, but it is a nice feeling that he isn't going to pry it out of her. It's part of what makes her feel safe around him.]

So, this is purely hypothetical... [We all know what people mean by 'hypothetical' it means it's probably happening or happened.] ...but what if someone was causing the world to die just by being alive? To save the world it would be only natural to want them to die, right?

[She had accepted it as a conclusion with the right explanation... others weren't so accepting. It confuses her a bit.]

[ At the end of the day, Yuri's not about forcing personal information out of someone unless it was an issue of life or death. Since this is decidedly not one of those and it concerns someone he cares about, you bet he's not gonna press it.

Anyway, he's listening to her talk, and... ]

I don't think so.

[ Part of it's because he's biased and knows what she's talking about. ]

If someone's going around wishing for the death of this person then they're going about it the wrong way. That person didn't ask to be born like the way they were, anyway. Besides, if they think killing them is going to solve a big problem like that, they've got another thing coming.

[ Basically he believes anyone wanting to kill her is wrong and they can just kiss his ass, because he knows what this is about. ]

Well, no they didn't, but... [She has to word this delicately, not for Yuri, but for herself.]

...but what if they're okay with it since they know it will help? Especially since people like this person have sacrificed themselves in the past?

[Put her two dreams she got together, we get this. She's not entirely happy with this conclusion, but if it makes things better then it's okay-- that's what she thinks. It's never been about her well-being. For as selfish as she is she also can't seem to take the time to even think about herself.]

[ Yuri kept his cool as much as he was able when they were all standing on that rocky crag, and for what it's worth, he did so even when Estelle had turned to thank him.

"I don't want to hear that again."

The first thing Yuri's registered is how angry he is. Yuri knows it's not Estelle's intention to invoke anger in others, and that she's always trying to be well-meaning in her actions towards others. It rattles him because this is something he doesn't want to hear from her again. The thought gives him momentary pause, but it is true.

But even though the decision to kill Estelle troubles him and makes him feel as if he shouldn't be talking to her, he's resolved not to leave this as is. ]

So what if they're okay with it? You really think that everyone else will be alright with it too?!

[ Yuri doesn't bother to hide how frustrated he is, even if he'd like to. ]

Let's say this person sacrifices themselves. Where does that leave the people who cared about her most? And then of course the damn world dies anyway. What then? It was already heading that way anyway.

Could you honestly say it's helped then? Or would you just be satisfied at the thought of throwing your life way too easily, thinking everything can be solved like magic just because you decided it was okay to lay down and die?

[ He realizes somewhere in this it's switched from 'they' to 'you', but Yuri would never forgive himself if she came out of this conversation thinking that it was okay to lie down and die.

And as he's saying these things, he can only keep wondering if the decision he made at that time, in that dream, was because he had given up. There was always another way, wasn't there? And yet, he had thought he was the only one who could do the job nobody wanted. ]

[She knows when Yuri shows his anger that he's caught on. So her probably knows this too... if they had the same 'dream' then it probably makes sense that he knows. Honestly, she thought that maybe she could be subtle, but now she knows that's not the case as her posture changes to a more defensive one. This is why she didn't want to talk to him about this.

She didn't want this anger again.

She didn't want to be chastised again and it makes her feel awful.

People caring for her seems like a foreign concept, so she figured it would be an easy choice, but they still fought on her behalf. It still boggles her mind sometimes that these people she met care for her. She's not used to it at all. Of course, she loves and cares for others so easily, but that's because she's attention starved and just being around people is enough for her.

However, right now she has no rebuttal. Instead, she has her head bowed in a familiar scene of being chided for being okay with dying, even if it may not be the end all be all solution. She just figured it would have helped.]

I'm sorry...

[Familiar words. A familiar scene.

It only confirms far too much.]

[ That was a scene farther back in the long dream he's had this week which ended with his resolve to take matters into his own hands once more - and it's been replayed again because of everything that's happening now. He could turn on his heel and walk away, leaving it the same as he did then. But even when he did something like that before he ended up feeling rather dissatisfied and it didn't seem to help if she's still...

The thought trails off and, well. It can't be helped for now.

He's done his best trying to help, he'll just have to see if it was good enough. ]

... Just remember you're not facing all of this alone, and we're going to find another way to deal with the situation back home, alright?

Okay...

[That's all she can squeak out before she elects to walk on ahead a bit. It's great he's looking for another way, but... part of Estelle has accepted what may need to be done.]

[ What is he going to do with you, Estelle??

Anyway, if Estelle wants to keep walking it's fine but he's going to stand here a bit.

Because he's not entirely satisfied with the end of the conversation, but it's. Fine. He'll eventually get himself moving so he's walking by her side. ]

[She's fine, it's all fine. She's fine. It's all fine.

It's not like her stride is too fast as she passes some of the new rooms, especially to get a peek in before moving on so he'll catch up with her in no time.

Still, she's probably not one to talk right now since opening her mouth is what got her into this mess. She had hoped that maybe he didn't know, but it seems she was wrong.

It's all... fine.]
