Week 2.
Two people are dead. Ken Kaneki has been murdered, Reaver has been executed - and perhaps most uncomfortably, the Conductor is proud of you all for adhering to due process. (As always, by which he means that there is a process, and you all are certainly doing it.) Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... However, once you've shaken that off, there are new things to be looked at; the previously closed-off area near the kitchen has been unlocked, and there's a new floor to be explored - consider it your reward for a job well done. |

[Dio awoke in his room in the early evening, staring blankly at the ceiling for a few minutes. That dream...was it a dream? It explained quite a few things, as well as filled a small gap in what he knew to be missing memories. He pressed a hand to the scar on his throat and looked to the cracked stone mask left on his desk. There could be little doubt that he'd worn that mask at some point, and then...quite a lot had clearly transpired. It left an unpleasant taste in his mouth to say the least, but the death of his rival should have been a victory.]

[...Damn it.]
[Eventually--a little before the chime marking 10PM--Dio had found his way to the infirmary, examining some things he recognized and some things that hadn't remotely been invented in the 1800s. Looking closely enough, one might even have caught him hiding something in the jacket of his school uniform, before resuming looking though the drawers and cabinets.]
[The rest of the night would find him in the library, either on a ladder looking through the shelves or sitting at ground level reading a particularly dense and dusty hardcover.]

It's good that he runs into him in the library at night, anyway... it seemed like he kept kind of odd hours. That made tracking him down a bit hard, but... you know.
People don't like to be interrupted when they're reading, but...]
So, find something good? I've been having a little trouble with the selection, myself.
no subject
[Dio didn't even look up from whatever he was reading, leaning his head on one hand.]
I'll admit it's not what I'd hoped for, but I can tolerate it.

Imagine something that isn't necessarily essential for your continued survival... yet it's so omnipresent that when you encounter a place that doesn't have it or people who don't know about it, the absence feels... a bit indescribable, really.
no subject
I can perhaps imagine the concept, I think. So what is it in particular that you're missing so much?
no subject
Here, plenty of people have never even heard of them, I can't even find one mention of them in any of the books I've seen. It's all very bizarre.
no subject
[seriously, what the HELL was up with that]
I've never seen anything like it myself, either.
no subject
You can't use the majority of them as underwear, for one.
no subject
What would be typical of them, if not that?
no subject
...actually, it's hard to say what is typical. Well, Ditto's odd in that its ability is to change its form to mimic anything its wants. Most of them have more of a solid set of skills. I guess for the most part they'd resemble the animals you're familiar with, although some do resemble inanimate objects and there are quite a few that are essentially mobile, sentient plants.

But.]
Hey, have you seen any, like, poisons? Kaneki had some from the machine, but you'd think he'd just leave it sitting around if he wants us to die. Like, why even give us medical supplies?
no subject
[charming.]
As for poison, I've not seen any that I recognize.

[She's not planning on killing anybody but really. This is Some Bullshit.]

There's just no point, as far as I can tell. Did you ever, like, think about why we're here? What's the Conductor get out of this? What is the point?

[Dio presumed most of his own powers were intact, or he'd been starving for a week for no real reason.]
I suppose the first question to ask would be 'what makes your abilities different from Kaneki's?'
no subject
So I guess it's like. The X-Gene is inherent to being a mutant? But it's, like. Everyone's X-Gene does different stuff or whatever? So it's kind of, like, similar to my hair being blond but Kaneki's being black or whatever?
[That is 200% not how genetics work but Tabby tried really hard with that explanation because the X-Gene is 100% comics bullshit that barely makes sense.]
