Week 7.

WEEK 7 Orihime Inoue, Estellise Sidos Heurassein, and Kirei Kotomine all died this past week. One of your Coordinators died as well, leaving you with a new face but still no end to this. Several of you are finding yourselves at a crossroads: either keep moving forward, or accept the inevitability of fate. It's your own choice, your own decision; no one's going to make it for you. Over half of you are gone now. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Once again, a new floor has been opened to you; unfortunately, either this is a particularly strange reward or Jericho is starting to get downright sarcastic. Perhaps there's something in it for you despite the setup; who knows, though there's really only one way to find out. PARTICIPANTS REMAINING: 16

I have to admit, this seems like a good way to relieve stress.

[Sayaka latches onto that bit, and she'll walk in, hoping to get nearby and just...kind of try to smile a bit. Even if it feels forced, for Alex's sake, she'd do anything.]

... An idea hits her. ]

Sayaka, you said you died in the first week at that other game, right? The one in the school you're on about now.

Yeah, might as well. Worst comes to worst this thing breaks and that's on Jericho to fix up.

[ She'll be sitting here there, laughing a little as she tugs at the cords here... ]

Uh... I've gotten better, actually. Terumi taught me kinda how to carve, so I think I've got myself a basis in chopping. [ and, well- ] A-and the eggs thing, I was totally just, uh, distracted.

[ Mm..nngh.... Her face falls, though not much. Her smile didn't reach that far, anyway. ]

It's a little hard not to be. It's...a rough one, this week. It seems they keep being rough ones.

[ Never mind thinking about Michael. Never mind all of that. ]

It's a little awkward, yes, but...Sayaka listens, ever true to her title, and she listens with a smile. To hear a girl who loves her parents so whole heartedly...]

That just goes to show how much you loved them both. That you'd worry so badly for them, and what you could do...it's so genuine, and warm. It's almost like something you'd hear about in a book.

Not that I mean any ill by that, of course. It's...just something I can picture in my head so clearly.

Well, he probably uses magic anyway, I doubt it'll be that much.

So girl, did you like that Alena woman at all?

[Sayaka seems...genuinely happy, about that much. Her fears aren't quite done being fearful, but...]

...Yeah, about...five days, I want to say. Did you think of something...?

[...She's kind of scared of the thought.]

I can barely recognize you already. There's so many girls with teal hair here, you blend right in.

Aren't you already ditching your girl to be with me?

[ She says this with a slight smirk. Teasing, really. But there's an unsaid question in there as well, as if to be somewhat surprised that Elda would be who would be entrusted with this and not Alex. But all the same, she... is pleased? She holds the other's hand more, and she ...

Then grins, makes the bodily pick up Sayaka, and get it so that the girl (despite being far bigger than Elda) is on Elda's lap here. ]

Or is the plan to keep me in too.

[...They should have this, honestly, Sayaka likes the idea of them but is too scared it'd be too much--]

Well...could you prepare the pork, then? All you'll need to do is use the tip of a knife to make small cuts into it. Like...

[Hang on, she'll give Alex a demonstration--laying out the pork, cutting diagonal lines across the chop (boneless, for anyone keeping track at home), and sprinkling salt and pepper on both sides.]

Was that easy to follow, or should I go a little slower...?

This is going to sound somewhat absurd, I'm sure, but we lost out memories here. What if you lost your memories in that other game but died too quickly for them to catch up?

[ And so she's getting them now, after the fact? ]

...We don't actually make a habit of sleeping together, Mom--

[--Oh, well, this is happening. Um. Sayaka squeaks a bit, but she doesn't make to reject the motion? She'll just be sitting there. This is happening.]

...Considering what you just told me, can you blame me? Someone needs to make sure you're safe too.

[...There's a small flash of guilt.]

Though I'd...definitely want to keep an eye on Alex, too. I'm worried about her...

[...Sayaka's quick to walk closer, sashaying around a bit so she can try to cup Alex's cheek and just...kiss her on the forehead, if she'll allow it.]

...No, I understand that. It just keeps getting more difficult by the week...will you talk to me, though?

[Concern practically laces her tone.]

You can't be in two places at once.

[ She says that definitively, but as a simple statement.

... She's going to play with Sayaka's hair just a little here, a smile playing out on her lips as she does. Still, no, she couldn't really question the girl's desire to keep her safe, even if on some level the idea of Sayaka protecting her was an absurdity.

[Sayaka recoils at that. Sayaka just--she's bewildered, even if she's thought it before, but there was no way, right? There was no way--]

That's...I don't think we have anything like that at home. But...if that's the case, then what happened to that school...?

[Rin moves to one side of Sayaka's hair, sweeping back part of her bangs from one side to the other. From the way she's manipulating the strands, it seems she's working on a braid.]

You have to picture a book to imagine it?

You don't have that, but you have a game like this? Please, I think it's quite clear that's just as impossible as anything else.

[ In fact, she's going to put her goggle things back on to look around the room again for ghosts, speaking of impossible. ]

I'm not sure I'm following, but didn't you just get kidnapped to go into the game?

[Sayaka, despite herself, starts to tear up.]

I...I promised her that I'd protect her. I swore to her...I swore to something that's with her, that I'd keep her safe and get her out, and...if I'm this weak, then I...

[What kind of girlfriend is she?]

...I'm scared that someone will hurt her.

...It's a long story. You probably don't want to hear it.

[Sayaka's gaze seems to avert, a bit, if Rin looks at her face. It's a bit awkward. She'll hold still, though--it's just eye movement.]

[matchbreaker]

[ Something that's with her...?

Those creepy things?

Why gives a shit about those creepy things? For a long moment, she's uncomprehending, and then the vampire just tugs lightly on some of the hair of the back of the girl's bob ]

Even if you trained every day, when it comes to physical things, there's a half dozen people who'll outclass you. There's also a fair few more who'll outthink you. The main thing is to do what you can, however is best for you to survive.

[ She whispers this next bit, rocking Sayaka in her lap ]

Come now, don't you cry.

[Sayaka digs through her head, mentally.]

I remember...walking into the school. Everything looked okay, then, even if I was a bit early. Everything went...blurry, but...after that, when I woke up in that classroom, everything had changed. It didn't look nearly as clean, or pristine...
