Week 8.

WEEK 8 Regardless of what you think of the most recent deaths, four more people have died this week. Milla Maxwell, Angel, Susan Ashworth, and Aligula are gone now, leaving you with about a quarter of your original number. Thirty-five down to twelve - this can't keep going for much longer, can it? Is there anything you can do? Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Unlike the previous weeks, however, it seems that either you've reached the end of the line or Jericho has decided to stop rewarding you for your effort; where there would usually be a stairwell to a new floor, you're met with nothing but solid wall. Perhaps it's distressing; perhaps it's a good sign. Only time will tell, and time isn't something you have a lot of around here. PARTICIPANTS REMAINING: 12

My, you really are in no state to be out of your room. Stand up, Tohsaka-san. I'll take you back to your room -- for your own good.

[ Yuri lights the candles and sets them on the desk, before stepping back. This is going to probably look ridiculous, but...he's going to bring his hands together. With the candle's dim light against the darkness, it easily casts a shadow that looks like something in flight.

It's supposed to be a butterfly, actually, but he hasn't quite gotten it down. It probably looks kind of ridiculous. ]

Why not a little bit of a guessing game? This look like anything familiar to you?

I think we will, especially since they did mention it was possible. We just need to keep on looking for a way.

[ Yuri wouldn't have believed it earlier on in the weeks, but now...things are different. He's not going to be foolishly optimistic or anything, but he does have some hope it can happen if they try. ]

That sounds like more than a 'perhaps' to me. I think you seem about ready to give it a try and it's good that you do, which is more than what can be said of some people anyway.

Hey, hey, don't be so hasty. [She clings to the edge of the bar, like she's not sure if she needs to push up or hold on.] Does it matter where I sober up? We could just sit here and have fun.

[...she's kind of thankful for the fact that he didn't admonish her for that, really. Her expression becomes warmer.]

...As long as we keep on it, I'm certain we will. We're a determined bunch--we've already managed to do this much, so that must mean there's so much more we can do. We just have to stay determined!

[She doesn't look the least bit offended by that. With that secret, she's still not sure sometimes what to think of Rideaux... But comments about incinerators aside, he's still easy enough to get along with. And whatever happened seemed to really be affecting him. Rin doesn't need to understand why to see that, or to sympathize.]

It's a peach-braised pulled pork sandwich. But, oh... [She leans against the counter as a thought comes to mind; something she learned a few weeks past.] That's right. You don't have peaces in your world, do you? Milla told me the fruit in the refrigerator didn't look like the ones she knows. Or knew, rather.

Huh. Well alright.

[ He'll shrug. In that case... ]

[ she hugs the bear a little tighter and through a blush... ]

I can't stand her at all. Yes, she's got a hair temper trigger and walks around like she owns my manor. But... that is me. My Henry loves her, adores her. And James did once say that she was a strong match for him, much like I was to him - a powerful woman to back a somewhat gentle man.

Eww, no! High schoolers taste wretched to me!

Yes, it means you're always on guard. But then, I suppose that you did say Estelle was more capable than she looks.

[ She frowns the moment she said that though. That might've been too much. ]

Wait, twelve? Who expected a child to fight some king like that in the first place?!

What's a GHS? One of those things that Chie had?

[ Sniff, sniff. Huh, this smells... oh, it smells like the old country! She nods to herself and then just sort of picks it up to swirl it around a little. ]

[hesperos]

[ She's right--it does mean he's always on guard. Sometimes he's imagined that he'd be less so if Estelle hadn't been brought in here with him, but now it's stuck even though she's dead. ]

You remembered when I said that from a few weeks back, huh?

[ The cheeriness is absent, but he doesn't sound angry she brought it up or anything. ]

No it's alright, Luca just smiles at that. Conceal those feelings, nobody needs to know the truth.]

Oh come now, I thought you were fond of most of the people here.

[The ones still alive, that is.]

Would you really hurt them?

It is a small detail, I know. But sometimes those small details matter. Something like 'taking the time to learn a foreign name that is difficult for you to pronounce' can seem like a small detail, but to the person with the difficult name it can mean 'you work with that man every day and remembering his name is a very bare minimum level of respect you could show him'.

[He's friends with people, sure. But who could he ask that of? Elda's going to have her hands full taking care of Sayaka, and Sayaka isn't going to her own world anyway. Rin might agree to it, but she is also a teenage girl and that could get a little weird. And Yuri...]

Perhaps, but I would hate to impose on someone.

[DOOT DOOT handwaving ahoy, want to have them trade wins and losses?]

I am, but I have another awareness here, you know. That action taken to end the exercise... that kills everyone. It doesn't matter how dies earlier or who dies later. It's all or nothing.

[ that said, more to test than anything, Elda, in one incredibly quick but oddly languid looking movement thrusts forward, bringing one of her claws long lady fingernails up towards Yuri's eye. She intends to stop just short of it, reaching up to close the height difference as best she can.

But mostly she's just seeing hos quick his reaction time is. ]

You would just get caught, so I doubt you would plan out a murder. A crime of emotion I could see happening, but in that case the one to try to subdue you would probably be the one person I cannot picture you harming at all.

[Even at her most emotional, Elda still didn't hurt Sayaka. And Sayaka is absolutely the one who would throw herself at Elda first to try to stop her.]

Is this an internal code? Like the Native Americans using every part of the buffalo, you don't piledrive what you won't take a bite out of? Smells fishy.

No, I'm saying that I've got no reason to associate with them at all! They're so stringy and wouldn't even have much money.

[ It's just like her to wear her weaknesses on her sleeve, isn't it? Elda's eyes turn catlike, but she nods a little. She... ]
