Week 8.

WEEK 8 Regardless of what you think of the most recent deaths, four more people have died this week. Milla Maxwell, Angel, Susan Ashworth, and Aligula are gone now, leaving you with about a quarter of your original number. Thirty-five down to twelve - this can't keep going for much longer, can it? Is there anything you can do? Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Unlike the previous weeks, however, it seems that either you've reached the end of the line or Jericho has decided to stop rewarding you for your effort; where there would usually be a stairwell to a new floor, you're met with nothing but solid wall. Perhaps it's distressing; perhaps it's a good sign. Only time will tell, and time isn't something you have a lot of around here. PARTICIPANTS REMAINING: 12

So this is as far as we'll go.

[Kyrie passes her hand over the wall where a staircase would have appeared. The wall is completely solid, it doesn't budge. Knocking on it hints there's nothing beyond. Thoughtful, she steps back and returns downstairs. Breakfasts need to be made.

Besides, there are other matters to think about, like her latest memory. Looks like Rudolf and she got rather far in their improvised plan. And then she died. A gunshot. She had missed a shot and accidentally spared one of her in-laws. How embarrassing! Rudolf was dead too. The plan failed.

What was more, she had no idea what happened to Battler. Maybe he was killed too, maybe not. She had no way to know. It was strange...she actually felt sorrow for Battler's potential death. Rudolf's death was...well it was troublesome. That's unfortunate. Her daughter, Ange...well it seemed she was an orphan now. Who knows what'd happen to her.

All in all, Kyrie was by herself again, with no ties at all, and by being in this hellish place, she has a chance to restart her life.

It's no surprise she appears quite cold this morning]

[Later, when she calmed down, she goes to the shooting range, practicing with a crossbow. There's something soothing about shooting. It's not a gun, but it's close enough. When someone enters she turns her head around and greets them with a rather strained smile]

I'm sorry if I was cold during breakfast time. I guess that's normal on Sundays, but that's no excuse, so I'd like to apologize.

[ If anything, Yuri said he'd help Kyrie out with making breakfasts (at least on one day, he's decided), and he is a man of his word, even if this means he's rubbing at his eyes as he's coming in.

...Or maybe he's a little late, hm. ]

You know, I never did collect on that dressing you up thing, did I?

[ It's a more idle statement Elda makes when she steps into the kitchen. She's got some papers under her arm which can include that drawing from her daughter most notably, the letter from Milla addressed to the rest of the group.

... Mind you it's closer to noon than not when she's doing this. So Kyrie might be cleaning up or in here for some other reason. Time is an illusion.

She's looking around for - Oh right, she needs to get tape. She'll sigh and set the papers on the counter. ]

[For the majority of Sunday, Rideaux remains in room 24. It's unlike him to forgo his routine, even if he had a dream that he didn't find very pleasant. That does not seem to be the case this week.

He makes two exceptions for emerging from his room. One is to make his way over to room 2, in which he slides a note for Sayaka under the door.]

I need my sunglasses back. Please bring them to my room.

[Well, okay.

After he hears back from Sayaka, the other exception to leave his room is for food, so Rideaux can be found in the kitchen in very brief intervals. While he's there, he's wearing oversized sunglasses.

That's weird. Why bother wearing something like that inside?]

Room 24

[Oh! Well, the note this morning definitely gets a bit of a glance, but Sayaka can do that much--she's kept them as she promised to keep them, even cleaning some smudges off of the handles of the glasses so they'd be nice and clean.

None the wiser, Sayaka goes over to Rideaux's door and knocks.]

Rideaux-san? It's Sayaka. I've got your sunglasses for you.

[ Yuri is very familiar with Rideaux's routine, and since today Sunday's not one of the days he's going to be sleeping in later due to promising he'd help out with breakfasts a bit, he's going to notice his absence from the usual.

Yuri is going to stop on by his room at some point and give it a knock. ]

...I know there's probably a reason for that, but I've got to say, you look stylish in those.

[/late-tags in here. Rin was sort of dutifully watching a cat all day, but at some point there she has to give up for dinner. She's putting the finishing touches on her meal when she sees Rideaux over there too. Actually, how's he doing, she wonders? After that talk on Thursday, she knows he was really dreading today.]

[ When Yuri wakes up, he stares up at the ceiling thoughtfully for a moment and then because he has promised to help out a little with something, he's getting up. He can be found in the hallways, rubbing at his eyes and stopping himself from walking into a wall on his way out, though.

Then, Yuri will head straight on into the dojo for keeping himself up with practice, because keeping in shape's always good.

He can be found in the game room briefly, looking at the set of things in here, probably thinking of roping someone into playing something with him. Anyone who comes on by gets a wave. ]

[ Later on, he can be located in library #2, looking for that cat. He is trying to be subtle about it but he's brought a blue orb with him and maybe it's shiny enough for it to play around with. ]

[Well, she was honestly just going to take a look through the room--the smile she gives Yuri is a bit brighter when she enters the room, and she'll give him a wave.]

[Since it's not far from where Luca is in the Billiards room, he will probably come across Yuri at some point.]

[ As funny as it would be to do the hallway thing, Elda isn't really out of the room until like noon. So when she pokes her head in here...

... Oh, what's he doing? She tilts her head to watch. ]

[She gives him a glance as she enters after hearing his voice, tilting her head slightly.]

[Wait, maybe she isn't supposed to yell at someone who's practicing? She backs up.]

[Well, with regards to the second library, catfriend is definitely in here! It's got a box, and it's usually curled up in there because, well. Such is cat. It seems that today isn't much of an exception, though it'll look up when approached because hey, how's it going.]

[...You know, she was half hoping she'd get another memory back. Maybe it'd give her a clearer picture of what the rest of those kids in her class were like, but...

You know, Sayaka actually wakes up in a genuinely good mood, for once. Maybe it's everything she talked about last night, or just...finally coming to terms with something or other? But you know what, she's here for it.

Sayaka's actually going to be spending a portion of the day in the Art Studio, and it looks like she's playing with some stuff in here--it actually looks like she's got some pipe cleaners out, and tissue paper, and she appears to be cutting the paper into shapes that look similar enough to petals. And with a bit of messing around and tying them up (or gluing, there's probably some glue here), she's...making a little garden of her own, here.

Later on, though? Sayaka seems to be making Dinner...or, at least, looking for suggestions, if the way she beams when someone comes into the kitchen is any indication.]

Hey! I don't suppose you have any recipes you can think of? I could use something new to try and make.

[After that, though, Sayaka will retire to Room 2, looking like she's writing something with a smile on her face. She'll gladly see anyone who wants to see her, though!]

[ As she promised, she was better the next day. Even that memory won't change it - if that memory was triumphant, this one... well, this one is sort of like an afterpaty, with everything resolved and going well. But then there's that ending to it, and... Mm. The woman pushes past that and decides to simply start the day.

Well, start the day once more in an outfit that people have seen Aligula in before. Specifically, the witch-y dress/costume she made for the Halloween party.

So... first things first, let's just go to the vending machine. Having no idea how to face anyone, she's just going to put in coins and accept the results. She doesn't see anything immediately interesting to her, though some of it... is neat? The drawing sees her focusing on it a little too hard before she just makes to cart this all back to her room over a few trips. When she comes back out, Ditty is in her hands, and he'll be there the rest of the day.

Next she goes to Milla's Room (Room 12) ... more on a hunch than anything. Susan left notes and she found for herself Aligula didn't when she stole the clothes. Elda has no special attachment to Angel, but she's curious if the god left anything. And it seems, well, she did. "Win" "I have high hopes for your abilities." ]

... Every single one of them, huh.

[ She mutters that to herself before taking the note which was addressed to everyone and taping it on the fridge in the kitchen. Her only venture there of the day, but hey, everyone else eats. They'll see it there. She'll deliver Sayaka's little letter personally later.

She said she would be better (indomitable, as they saw fit to call her) today, but she's still not necessarily feeling her social best. In the end, after (with Ditty in hand) Elda makes it to the top floor to see if it goes any further (and then it doesn't) she settles into Library #2 for a lot of the rest of the day, playing with Ditty and possibly the cat. Anyone can run into her there until she tires of it, collects some blood in the infirmary, and heads on back to her room. ]

[woof. Okay. Waking up to those kinds of memories every Sunday morning has gotten old, especially since that... wasn't quite as predictably bad as he'd been hoping. It was, in fact, a little worse, actually.

So he... ends up reading Susan's letter at breakfast in the dining hall, pondering a bit. His breakfast isn't gonna get too cold, but he's eating it more slowly than usual.]

...maybe I shouldn't overcomplicate things, but it's a little harder than that.

[...hm. But she is right, though. It's not like he had anyone back home that he was open with, right? Hm. Maybe he'll... just try to do social things today, after he checks out the new...

Oh. Okay. He was hoping for a distraction, but apparently not. Hm. Well.

TIME TO THROW SOME DARTS. He's not going with any of the petty stuff as he does some dart throwin' in the billiards room, because quite frankly, he's just looking to have some fun and work off steam. He's definitely up to play anyone if they wanna give it a go, but... looking at how close a lot of his hits are to the bullseye, it looks like he's actually pretty good, accuracy-wise. So hey, maybe he'll steamroll you... or maybe he'll be a fun challenge. Who knows?]

["Living heroes are better." "We have you for that."

She wakes up with tears in her eyes again, and she stays that way for a while. It's not... It isn't what she thought, not at all, but it's a far cry from what she wanted. It carries a sting with it once more, and it takes her a while to collect herself enough to leave her room.

When she does come out, she‘s holding a few sheets of paper in her hands, and it’ll become clear why once she reaches the dining hall. She’s setting up portraits of the deceased (except for Susan; she leaves that task to someone else) in the same spot that Susan used to put them. They aren’t drawn in the same style, but... Some things can’t be replaced. They can only be carried on by different hands.

Most of the day after that is spent in the sewing room, though she’s embroidering rather than making any kind of clothing. She seems distracted when compared to her usual manner, a fact made clear by the noise of discomfort she makes when she accidentally pricks her finger with a needle.]

["Who gave you permission to lay a hand on my Archer?!"

Just like that? That's too cruel. He was right there, but she didn't even... Her cheeks feel wet, so Rin's sure she cried in her sleep, but when she wakes she feels so tired. Determined, but grim. So that's the truth about the Grail Kirei spoke of... She should probably be more torn up about her family's dream, but she isn't. She doesn't want some monkey's paw of a weapon. But destroying that weapon...

Rin slaps her face, and drags herself out of bed for the day.

So there's no new floor today, huh? That's a little foreboding, but Rin doesn't mind. She wanted to check out last week's floor a little closer anyways. Thusly, for most of the day you can find her in Library #2. She can't read shit here, but you know what reference books have? Pictures. She's just kind of browsing all over here, trying to get a feel for the subject matter, or if there's any strange ones.

But while she is investigating that, her actual main point of interest is the cat. That's right. This is Investigation: Catfriend. There's a lot of pretending to be studying these books going on, when really she's watching their feline companion to see how it behaves, or if it goes anywhere. She's prepared to stake out here all day, man. However, if it doesn't do anything interesting on its own, she did bring some things with her to see how it'll interact with them. Namely, she's brought the box she and Sayaka found last week.

While Rin burns almost all their daytime hours up there, she's going to end the night in the bar. Depending on how things go, maybe it's celebratory, or maybe she's sulking, who knows? Either way, she's trying to be a little more open, and also a little more adventurous. Brandy is her go-to drink, but she decided to try something new tonight, something she's never heard of.

And uh, weird. It doesn't look like she's been drinking a lot? She's only on her second glass here. But she's drawing kitty faces in the condensation of the glass, and generally staring into the red jewel of the pendant necklace lying in front of her on top of the bar like she's contemplating the mysteries of the universe, and well, maybe she is, given her conversation starter. Her voice is hushed in some kind of awe.]

...Do you ever look back on your experiences objectively and think about how weird your life is?

Well. That certainly was a memory.

Luca is normally an early riser, but he doesn't come out of his room until well after lunchtime on Sunday. When he does appear, he goes up the stairs to look for a new floor, only to find...nothing? Huh.

Luca will spend at least an hour exploring the seventh floor, looking to see if the stairs up are in another location. When that proves to be fruitless, he instead heads down to the billiard room to mess around with the pool stuff for a bit. And later, he can be found in the laundry room cleaning his clothes. It's that time again, he's got to stay fresh and clean.

If anyone looks for him at night, he can be found in the bar. It seems as though he has taken up drinking again. And while he has held together pretty well for most of the day, by the nighttime he has started to get a little saltier than he usually is. Watch out for that.]

[ It starts as something she's vaguely familiar with.

And then, when they would stop her, stop it, she...

Sunday sees Alex out and about. A little antenna can be seen poking out of her jacket at all times; she's carrying her radio around with her? How strange.

Like many others, she checks around the seventh floor for any stairs but...of course, there's nothing. It's strange, sort of, but... ]

That library does seem like a "last level" sort of thing.

[ What now? Well, from there she goes to the game room, to find something to occupy her time. Honestly, she's looking a bit through the Dungeons and Dragons books. She's never played, but... ]

Bit late to start a game now, isn't it?

[ Later at night she's at the bar, with a beer and a notebook. Her radio's out in front of her, and...she's talking to herself? ]

Okay, so...you can't really talk like you used to, we'll work up to that. Just give me something to work with? [ ...Static from the radio. ] You don't have to do that, I can still hear you idiots.

[ She groans and takes a sip. Looks like she's been at this for awhile, with nothing written. ]
