Week 9.

WEEK 9 With another death to the timer and another double murder - accidental though that last part may have been - your numbers have been cut even further. Hibiki Ganaha, Sayaka Maizono, Alex, and Kyrie Ushiromiya are all dead, bringing those left alive from twelve down to eight. It's almost hard to believe this started with thirty-five people. There are so few of you now. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... It seems that the pattern from last week is holding; there is no new floor to occupy yourselves with. It doesn't seem much else has changed, either - leading to questions that are uncomfortable but must be confronted. Namely, where do you go from here? Is there anything you can do? Is anyone else going to run up and do it? Otherwise, I'll go right now.

[ Because she needs to see it for herself, the reality of it. ]

[It's hard to tell if that mollifies her or not and she takes it back, smoothing the wrinkles off the paper. She looks flustered, kind of in that weird sense of she doesn't know how to feel, and that irritates her, so in turn the ire is what's being shown.]

It's for me, after all. [Huff.] I have to ensure it's presented to the right people.

[matchbreaker]

And that whole incident with Kirei resolved without his death.

[ Which is... weird. ]

I mean, I actually do understand what Blue was probably trying to accomplish given what was going on in that trial, but I don't think I'll ever understand Captain Eide.

I'm kind of tempted to go myself.

[...it's gonna suck if it's Alex but uh.]

Well, I guess there's no reason we can't both go.

[matchbreaker]

[ She hopes its Alex but she's like 95% sure it's not.

She stands and then turns to go, motioning for Tarrlok to come alone. ]

Yes, of course. I need to get back into the swing of things, anyhow.

[he waves at the other attendees.]

Look, I'm just going to borrow the Coordinator's ability to control time and go back to before the secret was revealed and stop it from spreading. That's cleaner.

[matchbreaker]

Won't be but a minute.

[ Well, let's go, Tarrlok, we've got to get up two floors and get to the art room and that secret hallway!! ]

That does seem easier, yes.

[ A beat and. ]

That's a horrifying power to exist, when you think about it.

Not to mention that Hilda was apparently involved in both Archer and Kirei's incidents.

[And...a lot of other things. Rachel being an interesting one.]

It is quite a lot to take in.

[Rin's actually brought a few things with her today, but she takes out a brass key first. Some might recognize it as the one Sayaka found weeks and weeks ago.]

Out of curiosity, has anyone found any other keys like this one? I found another locked door.

... Am I reading these wrong or do they suggest Hilda might've gotten killed at least once?

[ But hey, we can get there quick enough, right? It's just needing to go up the two floors? She only asks by the time she realizes it's a song by the time they're getting to the fifth floor. ]

At the very least she was thought to be. Jericho made an addendum at the bottom of that page. I am not sure how that could have been an error, though... I suppose their system must have played a part in it.

I wonder if I ought to ask her about that...

[ She mutters that more to herself than anything, tapping her nail a few times on the table as she looks them over again. ]

Oh. It's an old folk song from back home about a secret tunnel that I just... started thinking about.

[matchbreaker]

Oh.

... Well this is a secret tunnel.

[ That they're getting to now. To the art storage room.

... She remembers last time she was here was when Rin was drinking after Aligula died. ]

[I mean, Rin's over here looking at that Kirei file with a frown, and way more attention than she feels the guy deserves. But the reason why should be obvious, given what she says.]

"Whether he ended it himself..." [But the Kirei in the photo looks the exact same age as the one who was with them that long ago. Rin glances between that and rest of the document before dropping it back down to the table.] This is like how it was with Kimblee. It was just a guess back then, but I can speak more confidently about this one: the Kirei they're talking about here isn't the one we met.

That is the question of the hour. If there was even any doubt left that we've been dragged into something much bigger than ourselves, it's should certainly be gone now.

With Blue and Sigrun's apparent involvement in past games, I have to wonder if there are any others here who can be counted among them...

Blue, Sigrun, Archer, Kirei, and Kimblee.... as well as either Sayaka or Alex.

I mentioned this to Elda, but what if we've all been involved in a past game?

You're right, that does seem to be the most likely case.

But that raises another question entirely, doesn't it? If the "masterminds" among us weren't the ones who ran games, why did Jericho want us to find them?
