Afterparty 5.0

[There's not much that can be believed about that trial. Or that execution. Still, like before, two hours after everyone leaves, they'll find a note slipped underneath their doors.]

We have to stick together. The dining room is there for anyone that needs a quiet space, and I cooked dinner.

Hibiki made some coffee and dessert for all of us.

[Today's selection includes potato pancakes and a light coffee cake. Hibiki has lit two more candles in the dining hall. It doesn't take long before Mordecai lights a third.]

actual outcome: get to room, forget to even close door, sees the drawing of her family on the nightstand so she doesn't even make it to the bed and just lies down on the floor, not even crying or anything just completely and utterly silent.

[Logan's been looking for Sukuyo. There's something he wants to show her, though he's not sure it'll help at all. Still, he knows Sukuyo and Dio had a (surprisingly) close relationship, so...

...He's not really sure what to do with the fact that she's lying on the floor. He tips his head for a moment before knocking on the door and letting himself in. After a moment he shuts the door behind him, though he doesn't lock it. Once that's done, Logan joins her on the floor, sitting down and flipping open the notebook.]

...I apologize in advance if this isn't helpful at all, but I thought you might want to know what Dio thought about you. Despite his harsh wording, he was fond of you.

He said I reminded him of his mother. [she stops staring at the ceiling for a moment to glance at Logan, but then goes right back.] Were the harsh parts about me being kind? He was always complaining about that...

[Instead look what happened to Dio. Not that kindness alone could have saved him...]

And I always told him, that it didn't matter if it did, it wouldn't make me stop caring for people... And I still care for him. Even if he killed poor Rakka-chan and Morty-kun. You can't blame people for the awful things that happen here. Even the people who choose to kill have Conductor-san guiding their hand.

[and after what is perhaps the most cognizant thing a Mankanshoku has ever said, she actually finds the will to sit up.]

[Maybe things would be different if Reaver hadn't been the first one to murder someone, but uh.]

I understand that the others have differing beliefs, but... it's been difficult to hear them talking so callously about people who felt there was no other way for them to move forward.

[Undyne. Asuka. Chie. Dio. Reaver.None of what they did can be dismissed easily, but they cannot solely be blamed for what happened.]

Sometimes it's hard for people to learn that. And it can be so painful... But, we can't stay mad at each other, any of us. That's the only way we'll get out of here, alive and dead.

[she takes the page and reads through it slowly, mouthing out the words... when she's finished, she just. grins a little. shakes her head.]

Poor Dio-san. He really did care, underneath all that. Poor, poor Dio-san.

[Good, he's glad that this helped. He wasn't sure if it would, but Sukuyo clearly knew (knows?) Dio well enough for that.]

...I sincerely hope we can find some way to bring them back. All of them, regardless of what some of the others may believe.

If the shadows destroyed their bodies, I don't know how their spirits are supposed to go back in them... Unless we let them all posses umbrellas and lamps, but I'm not sure what kind of life that would really be. They might rather be ghosts.

...The ah... state of the bodies does raise some concerns, but perhaps with strong enough magic...

[He shakes his head. There isn't anything like that in Albion, is there?]

I'm not sure. There are plenty of different worlds; perhaps someone will know of a way to save them without relying on their spirits possessing objects.

Well... Mordecai-san has special space magic powers, and I'm sure Rick-san would be a lot more motivated to help after... Well, he probably has some science things that could do that, too.

So, despite everything, we do have options. Non-vampire options. [rip vampire bad end]

...That really was the most ridiculous plan I've heard.

[And he comes from a world with potions that can summon monster spirits to fight for you! But usually you only get useless beetles.]

I hope they'll be able to do something for them. Albion may not hold any power strong enough for that.

He should've known better! Who'd want to be a vampire that can't even turn into a cloud of bats? [literally the only downside.]

I know my world doesn't have anything like that-- at least, nothing good. [everyone could sell their soul to clothing and probs come out alright???]

Well, if Dio-san had given himself up to Life Fibers instead of vampires, he definitely would've survived that execution! Even the shadow eating his head! I've seen worse happen to Life Fibers before, and unless it's a scissor blade doing it, they come right back!

... But, they're also very evil and want to enslave humanity. So, that's a much bigger downside than not being able to turn into clouds of bats.

[Sukuyo hasn't been to the afterparty at all, and now Mordecai can't help but be worried. His plan is to knock on her door to check if she wants him to save any food for her, but the crying and the open door catches his attention.]

Sukuyo?

[Thank god he heard her first, because he would have terrified the moment he saw her on the floor.]

It's very dusty down here. I should be ashamed of myself. [otherwise not even bothering to look up at him.]

[Shh sometimes he forgets to dust things too, but that's not the problem. First things first, he walks over and holds onto Sukuyo's arms.]

Need help gettin' to bed? [Pillows are easier to feel sad on.]

Not right now. It's more comfortable down here than you'd think.

I think it reminds me of home, a little. Having a bed still seems like a huge luxury to me, even after all this time.

[He's not going to risk checking if he's strong enough to pick up Sukuyo and drop her, so instead he sits down on the floor next to her. It'd definitely not as dusty as she fears it to be.]

Awful of the Conductor to take you somewhere nice only to make you miserable. [He rests a hand on her back.] I'm sorry for what happened. I like Dio, too.

Lots of people liked Dio. But, mostly because he looked really good with his shirt off.

... He was cruel, to pick children. But, I can't be mad at him. Isn't that awful? If I were in Rick-san's position, I would've killed him way before Conductor-san got to him.

He reminded me of some folks I knew back on Mars. The Marshal and his Martian companion, to be exact. [Sometimes Dio resembled one, sometimes the other.] They're good at their job of protectin' Mars, but they're terrible when it comes to people. Actin' like they're better than all of us, thinkin' they don't need help, not realizin' they ain't as amazin' as they think they are. And I thought I could at least help him out on that.

[And look where that got him.]

He's got a twisted way of thinkin', that idiot.

... I hope he's okay. Do you think he's getting along with the other ghosts? They aren't being mean to him, right? [like a mom who just dropped her child off at kindergarten.]

I bet this is the kinda thing he needs to finally realize he can't assume we're gonna do whatever he wants.
