Week 6.

WEEK 6

Losing three people in one week isn't very nice, is it? Morty Smith, Rakka, and Dio Brando have all joined the deceased. It will be hard to forget them. It will be even harder to forget that execution and Dio's flying, screaming head.

Life must go on though and as usual, the group has at least a little bit of time to recover. Saturday can be dedicated to rest and sleep; on Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock. The stairwells are clear of bodies; there's no more death to be dealt with for the time being. Unless, of course, you happened to recover something particularly unfortunate in your dreams...

Once again, there's a new floor to explore; your reward for doing your job well.

Some of your antics have resulted in more rule changes, effective immediately. You might want to avoid breaking those if you're fond of staying alive.

But then again, there are ghosts. Maybe dying wouldn't be so bad after all.

[It's a brilliant plan, sure, but rudeness only attracts certain kinds of people, and Mordecai isn't sure if that's who they can rely on most.]

At this rate, we might as well start a permanent fire and hope the ghosts flock there.

Forget attracting ghosts, we should probably figure out if that's feasible so we can not get fucking... engulfed... by formless abominations?

[ The point

_______________
Bakugou's head. ]

Besides, I'm careful... enough. [ He knows enough to exercise some fire safety when considering his candle set-up and support system. Ultimately, though, he's still basically trying to make a triangle of fire... ]

[Mordecai does not know the first goddamn thing about ghosts and summonings, and...he guesses a triangle is mystic enough. Sure. Illuminati and all that.]

I would think it doesn't attack us without reason. We're all here 'cause the Conductor wants us to be entertainin', not for us to die quick.

[Hm...all he has that belongs to the dead is a knitted scarf and hat, but it seems Bakugou is doing well enough on his own.]
blazeit: (stupid ass fuckmunch)

[personal profile] blazeit 2015-12-10 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
That's if those shadow fuckers are directly under the Conductor's control. I'm not convinced they are.

[ Which may be why Bakugou sounds about ten times more like he's a few moments away from a freakout when discussing said shadow monsters than when he talks about the Conductor. ]

Like, they're obviously working together, but that doesn't mean that the Conductor's got absolute control over them, right?
forcegalactic: (Trouble's comin')

[personal profile] forcegalactic 2015-12-10 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
No, he mentioned they were partners and they'd laugh at him if he made some unreasonable demand. Like if I asked them to deliver him a drink I made. [He's very serious about that scenario.] My guess is they teamed up after he made a deal with that "god" and now he has to make sure it's happy and doesn't kill him instead.

Which is why I was tellin' Logan...we should find a way to make 'em turn against each other. Either have the shadows fight him or--

[He stops himself mid-syllable, mouth open.]

Better yet, bring the Conductor on our side.

... You know, I honestly feel like that's not a bad idea if it's possible. Better the evil you know and all that.

[ And Bakugou feels like he kind of understands some things about the Conductor. Enough to make him think it's a no-brainer, if he has to pick between going up against the Conductor or those shadow things. ]

But you might be right about that. Observant kept telling me he's definitely a human being, by which I think he meant he's a mundane human being. Unless he knows those shadows' weaknesses, then he's probably just as defenseless against them as we are.
forcegalactic: (Trouble's comin')

He--[Mordecai folds his hands to his mouth. Those conversations with the Conductor, as inane as they may have been, showed a different side of the mysterious man. He's not an AI. He is a human being.]

There's a lot to him that give me the hint that he ain't completely on board with all this. He worked from the bottom up to get to his position, as terrible as it may be. He mentioned a sacrifice. He's been in love before, sorta, all failed relationships. He risked his life while on the job, he wanted to try some of my cookin' if I ever got out alive, and he did say it's possible for us to escape.

I-it doesn't make him free of guilt, he's definitely gettin' tried, but he ain't our biggest enemy here.

Yeah, I... don't know. I mean, I'm pretty sure he's fucked up in the head pretty significantly, but... it's the same with me. He's talked to me about his family before, even. And he got pissed off when Ashley was killed.

[ So he's definitely capable of normal human emotions and all that. Well, he's probably at least as capable of them as Bakugou is... ]

Can't say I like him, but like I said. If he can help us, I'll take it. Those shadow things... man, fuck that, I would literally rather set this place on fire than... ugh.

What's his family like? Don't tell me he had no opinion on 'em, either.

[It's like the the guy is actively trying to not care about anything.]

Yeah, there's gotta be a reason he's doin' all this besides for entertainment. I wouldn't wanna cross those shadows no matter what we were workin' on. You have to wonder why they're even teamin' up with a regular human who just happens to be a mad scientist.
blazeit: (don't be such a tittybaby)

[personal profile] blazeit 2015-12-11 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
He said he wasn't that close to his dad, but that was probably more on his dad? But that they understood each other pretty well. I think the only person he considers family family is his sister.

[ That was definitely a weird conversation about family members the two of them had... ]

And you got me, but he also told me that he's probably a... and these are his words, not mine... "an abomination unto God". So I'm guessing that and those shadows have something to do with each other.

[It happens sometimes. People don't always stay close to their parents.]

He told me he wasn't like "normal" humans, as he put it. That there was something wrong with him, something that makes him feel practically nothing about others. He doesn't know a lot of people, but from his wordin', I believe he's mostly in contact with creatures like those shadows. It's like...he only picks whoever's most useful to him and that research of his.

Pretty sure that's called being a sociopath, nothing too special about it. [ ........ he's not strictly wrong, but he's probably not strictly right either. ] And yeah, I think he said that's why he ended up pissing off his sister. Because he killed some people because of his work and didn't realize it would upset her.
