WEEK 5 Tabitha Smith, Sigrun Eide, and Solf J Kimblee are all dead. Regardless of what you think of the trial or the events leading up to it, there's no denying that you can feel the dent in your numbers now. After all, ten people are gone now. It may be hard, but all you can do is keep going. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... What with Jericho's excitement at the last trial, it's evident now more than ever that the new floor that's opened up to you is a gift, a reward for a job well-done. Because while surviving is something that you'll continue to try to do of your own merit...well. Let's say that he's so, so very proud of you. ...I don't know. In truth, it's a bit of a unique situation.

[After a moment, she pulls a locket from her neck; the material is made of clear glass, so it's easy to see the two strands of hair interwoven inside. One is Adelina's exact shade, and one is jet black.]

I haven't remembered our wedding yet, but I received this from the vending machine several weeks ago. The only time such trinkets are made are when two people are wed, and it's a tradition in our land to cut a strand of hair from each partner and put them in such a piece of jewelry. I can think of no other explanation for why such a thing would exist. And - I remember his proposal.

It must have been very recently.

[Is he on the journey with Adelina, she wonders? Ever the jewelry enthusiast, Rin holds out her hand.]

Can I see it?

[bloodbiter]

[She nods, unclasping the chain at her neck and holding it out so the other girl can take it for a moment. She's certain Rin will be careful with it, so her next words may be motivated by an overabundance of protectiveness, but all the same—]

Be gentle with it.

[The chain is pure gold, and the glass encasing their strands of hair is thin. It's clearly made with a great deal of care and skill.]

[heritrix]

[Rin nods, and the motion speaks her promise for her: of course.

Holding it in her hands, she can tell how fragile it is. It's not like a wedding ring you could wear every day; you would want to take great care with it, and avoid wearing it during activities that would see a lot of physical action.]

It's beautiful. [Gently, she turns the pendant so that the glass catches the light, making it sparkle and the gold shine.] Do you think he crafted it for you himself?

[bloodbiter]

I do not think so. He has many talents, but crafting such things is not among them, to my knowledge.

[She pauses, though, with a smile and a light blush.]

It would not be the first time he has surprised me, however.

[heritrix]

[Ohhhh, so she likes him already, huh? Rin's eyes sparkle with mirth and mischief.]

So, so? Is he as handsome in person as he is in that portrait?

[bloodbiter]

[She nods, the redness staying put in her face.]

Even more. I doubt I will be able to capture it correctly.

[Or maybe she's just hopelessly smitten, who knows.]

[heritrix]

[Rin laughs. Oh no, this is so adorable, she can't bring herself to tease Adelina too harshly.]

I can see you standing by his side. I think you'd mae a charming couple.

[Adelina's from such an older time, Rin doesn't think too much of her being wed by a younger age actually, despite her initial surprise.]

What's his name?

[bloodbiter]

Thank you. And, his name is Rhys.

[She pauses, tilting her head.]

Do you have anyone like that back home, Rin?

[heritrix]

That's a nice name.

[And at the question, Rin can't help but recall Lancer picking on her, from her memory on Sunday. Crossing one leg over the other, she flushes and laughs somewhat nervously.]

I-It's nothing official, or anything!

[bloodbiter]

[She can't help but let her smile grow more amused, looking at Rin with a newfound curiosity.]

It isn't official, but... There is someone you fancy?

[heritrix]

[Mrrrrr, feelings are so vexing!!]

...I might like him. But he confessed first and he's not terrible, so it's only natural I consider it.

[bloodbiter]

You might? You aren't certain?

[She's curious, and it's clear from her tone and expression that she's waiting to hear more.]

What makes you uncertain?

[heritrix]

[The arm bubble feeling that was in her chest moments ago, flustered as it makes her, starts to cool when Adelina's question forces her to put it to words.

...]

Putting aside it's bad timing, there's someone I know who's enamored with him. [Rin brushes a lock of hair behind her shoulder.] Until all of this, I was honestly rooting for her.

[bloodbiter]

...I see.

[She hasn’t been in such a situation, but she can sympathize. Even so, one thing sticks out to her.]

You said he confessed to you, correct? So even if you did not return his feelings, he would not return hers.

[heritrix]

Yeah. I doubt she would see it that way, but if I like him and he likes me, I'd only succeed in sabotaging what could be a good thing for the both of us.

[bloodbiter]

I can understand feeling a bit guilty, though, if someone you care for harbors those kinds of feelings for him.

[A pause.]

In the end, what do you think would make you happier? I imagine if she truly cares for you as well, she would want you to be happy, too.

[Rin only stares for a moment, then smiles. It's an expression that's hard to read, but might be appreciation.]

You've been nice enough offering to draw this portrait for me, but could I trouble you for another?

[bloodbiter]

[She notices the evasion, but for now, she simply nods.]

Certainly. Who would you like me to draw next?

[heritrix]

A girl. A girl with a pink ribbon in her hair.

[And Rin will proceed to describe the appearance of a girl a little younger than her; hair a little straighter, and face a little rounder. But the shape of the eyes, nose, and mouth? They're somewhat familiar.

She doesn't know what expression the girl should have, so Rin requests the girl to look like she's waiting for something, and hopeful.]

[bloodbiter]

[She notes all that information, but once she does, she glances back at Rin.]

Are the two of you related?

[heritrix]

...Yeah. You could call her a distant relative.

[bloodbiter]

I see.

[A bit of a pause.]

Might I hear more about her?

[heritrix]

I don't know if I'm ready for that today. [If only because this thread has stretched on pretty long.] But ask me another time, and I'll tell you. Even if no one takes the motive tis week and our memories are erased one by one, I've taken notes. So I'll be able to show you those at least.
