WEEK 5.

WEEK 5 Tabitha Smith, Sigrun Eide, and Solf J Kimblee are all dead. Regardless of what you think of the trial or the events leading up to it, there's no denying that you can feel the dent in your numbers now. After all, ten people are gone now. It may be hard, but all you can do is keep going. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... What with Jericho's excitement at the last trial, it's evident now more than ever that the new floor that's opened up to you is a gift, a reward for a job well-done. Because while surviving is something that you'll continue to try to do of your own merit...well. Let's say that he's so, so very proud of you. Her past dreams she had sincerely hoped weren’t real, but this one she hopes is a reality. To have given Belius life once more—to have her powers be under control so she was no longer a poison or harming herself…? She’s not sure, but her dream made it seem like she was a danger to herself now. Still, it’s nothing to worry about any longer. Even though the trial was a shitshow, she feels… refreshed after talking to people about what happened who didn't parse words with her and this.

It doesn’t erase what happens, but it gives her strength to go on with the day despite all that’s happened. She’s learned a very hard lesson and now it’s time to own up to it. Yuri told her to talk to people, and perhaps that was his way of saying she needs to apologize.

But first, she hits up the vending machine and gets her new haul, in which nothing but one thing matters from this and that’s the plush of Undine she got. She’s looking at it for a bit and inspecting all the details—she looks exactly like the spirit she saw in her dream.

That’s enough to convince her everything was real. So unless someone wants something, she’s stashing the other items she received in the shark sleeping back and hauling it back to her room. (That’s her third one now, she thinks?)

For a good portion of the day, she’s going to seek out people she was… ah… rather rude to at the trial. Yes, that includes Elda. When she does do this, she’s taking the plush of Undine with her almost like a security blanket, so it’s kind of a hilarious sight. In any case, she won’t seem timid and her approaching people is sincere. Whether they choose to speak to her or not is not her choice, but she wants to at least say she tried. At least this time she knows when to not let her emotions take over.

Once she’s done, she’ll spend the evening in the library and it seems she’s got her nose in a book and is actually into it, meaning there’s nothing mentally distracting her right now. And yes, she still has that damn plush with her. But she seems a lot calmer. Either she put everything behind her and learned her lesson or she’s forgetting the whole fiasco happened. Or a combination. Either way, she’s almost appearing to be unnaturally calm and that’s either a good thing or a bad thing…]

[ For once, Yuri hasn't had a bad dream either and it feels like kind of a breath of fresh air if he were being honest. On one of his walks, he's stopping by the library and peering in to see if there's anyone around he knows. Once he spots Estelle, he goes further in. ]

Hey Estelle, what's up? Found something good to read?

[ Well Elda's... I mean, you have a few options here. First and foremost, she's not left her room until a little after one PM or so today and then she's off to see the new floor before eventually retiring to draw in the conference room or (much later at night) play piano in the ballroom.

It's like a choose your own adventure. ]

[ Now that a day has passed he might as well check up on Estelle. Also, she's right there. With random book in hand, he lightly knocks it against her head to get her attention. ]

[Well. That's.

Tarrlok wakes up in a cold sweat, because his memories apparently decided to take a sudden swerve into the wall and burst into flames. He definitely... leaves his room a little later than usual, and when he does, he's not looking super great. Like. He's kind of looking a little bit off kilter as he sort of... heads into the dining room, particularly that big ol' wall of secrets that's still there. Which he's just... staring at his own secret like he's just realized it was written in a different language and he's desperately trying to translate it.]

...that's impossible, though, but...

[holy shit. holy fucking shit. he should really. get this sorted out? but he needs to get this sorted out while familiarizing himself with the new floor because he's a leader here. He's... doing a good job. Leading. He is their leader, he hasn't betrayed them, he hasn't had everything ruined by... something or other he doesn't understand, he's...

...

He's kind of wandering aimlessly around floor four with a bit of a hunted look to him. He's a little... obviously tense, honestly, and he might be a little jumpy if he's approached from behind. He's "investigating," but he's not really focused enough to really learn anything? He's just. He's not doing good.

...he ends up quitting early and retreating to Room 10 and lying down. with the door open a little bit because he is. It's a Time. It's a Day. He's feeling a few letters away from bucked up right now.]

Fourth Floor

[Susan's been canvassing the new floor herself, with particular attention towards the art room, but she's just coming out of it when she sees Tarrlok. She'd meant to talk to him after the trial, considering how much he was pushing her on...what she'd said. But that never really happened.

Now, he doesn't seem in quite the same mood.]

[Cabanela is.... noticeably more subdued than usual when he approaches Tarrlok, frowning.]

[He looks concerned, to say the least.]

[ It's a little hard not to notice him, so desperately straining there. Alex just has herself a bowl of cereal form the kitchen, but when she Tarrlok's face, she sets it down and approaches. ]

Hey... What's up, you...look kinda like you've seen a ghost.

[Tarrlok is one of the people she's looking for since, well, he was right about a lot of things he said to her at the trial and she wished to at least discuss and apologize for her behavior. Instead, she sees this and...

...It must be a dream, she thinks.]

U-um, hello, Tarrlok. I... was looking for you.

[She's not really sure how to approach this given he doesn't look so well.]

[She enters with some fruit and a small sandwich on a plate, but it's forgotten fairly quickly when she sees him and how he looks.]

Tarrlok, are you—?

[The question dies before she asks it. Of course he isn't alright, that much is clear.]

...Perhaps you should take a seat.

Room 10

[Rin saw him roaming around on the fourth floor today when she was there herself. It was strange how out of it Tarrlok looked, like someone intoxicated on a nightmare, but Rin thought space was maybe what he needed. She had some heavy things on her mind too, and that's what usually helps her. So she went back to what she was doing, and throughout the day the look on Tarrlok's face slipped her mind.

It's not until she's heading back to her own room she remembers it. Tarrlok's room is caddy-corner to her own, so she has to pass it on the way back. Recalling how he seemed in the halls she naturally finds herself looking at his door, only to pause in her tracks when she notices it's not closed properly. Hm.

After a moment of thought, she approaches it quietly.]

Hey. [The door creaks slightly, as Rin lightly pushes it in a little. Spotting him on the bed, she raps her knuckles lightly on the wood.] Did you mean to leave your door open?

[The dream she has tonight gives her a smile as she wakes, but it's not something new or groundbreaking in terms of information. It doesn't take her long to leave her room and come to the new floor to investigate, and... well.

When she enters the art studio and the nearby storage room, she blinks in surprise before a broad smile crosses her face. That's where she'll spend nearly the whole day, other than breaks to the kitchen for meals. Anyone who enters will find her either sketching or painting various things, lost in her work. It's clear that she's enjoying herself, from the smile that remains on her face as she goes.]

Oh, I didn't know you painted!

[Susan seems to be...carrying a big loop of wire back into the room. For some reason.]

[As Rideaux is checking out the new floor as well, he can't help but stop by to see what Adelina's up to.]

You seem in a good mood, Princess.

[It's something pretty notable considering everything that's gone on lately.]

I take it you're an art fan?

[The cursed arm Zabaniya unravels, flying out to grip the heart of its target. A sure kill, befitting of the Servant called 'Assassin'. Black Keys flash silver in the sunlight, both attacks striking home and only one disabling its target. Of course--even a Servant could not destroy a heart that did not exist.]

['I will kill. I will let live. I will harm and heal. None shall escape me. None shall escape my sight.']

['Such a hopeless wretch! Do you still seek mundane happiness!? Do you not understand that such a thing does not exist for you!?' Blood painted the stone wall as the crunching and splintering of bones were paired with the laughter of an old parasite masquerading as a human and the lines of an exorcism rite spoken in a steady voice.]

['You will never find it. Kirei, you were defective from birth. Just stand and watch, never fitting into the world...!']

[And just like that, any lingering good mood he had from the trial was gone in a puff of smoke. Kirei awoke with a faint scowl, collecting himself into his usual impassive smile before heading to the kitchen to make coffee and consider breakfast--later on he'd move to the fifth floor, particularly the chemistry lab with some mild interest. Zouken was dead, that was certainly a positive thing to focus upon. But those words stuck in his head like a splinter of broken glass, and though he focused on what he did as the day wore on the priest didn't seem like he was paying attention to much else.]

['May you make your place in the world, then. Whatever that place may be, even if you have to change the world to do it.']

['...Kyrie eleison.']

Are you going to go mad scientist on us too?

[ ... How does she keep just appearing places? ... Okay no, Kirei lightly noticed her. She's in the door frame now, watching the man sort of walk his way through the room with some mild...

Interest?

Interest is the wrong word. ]

[If Kirei's interest is mild, Rin's is fierce. What a great room? It's so well stocked; if she had something like this at home—she'd have to make room for it, of course, but the shelves would be a great way for organizing materials for anything she might need, magecraft or otherwise. Rin's a kid in a candy store here; some of the salts are out, and she's currently checking out the beakers and a vial rack, and while she hears someone come in, she doesn't bother to look up to see who's there.]

[It takes Kyrie a while to leave her room. Usually he's up early to start making breakfasts for everyone, but her recent dream is not something she thought she'd ever dream. If these dreams are supposed to be memories, as some people think they are, then...

'Battler...he's my child and yours'

'I'm sorry, but I'm drawing the line here'

'No, Kyrie...Battler is my child and yours'

Rudolf really meant that. So Battler was her son. The young man she loathed so much was actually her son, the one she was supposed to have. Rudolf's explanation was like a bucket of cold water to her.

When she left her room, she was feeling empty. What was she supposed to do now with her life, when something as big as that crumbles away?

Kitchen

Feeling hollow doesn't change Kyrie's breakfast cooking skills. She does it as normal, as if nothing was wrong, but she doesn't say a word, and seems to be deep in thought, almost absent. It's very unusual for her, as she always used to at least have a greeting or a friendly word for those who came for breakfast.

Conference Room

Kyrie wasn't really in mood to do much. She went to the new places and confirmed they didn't seem like anything special. She wandered around, her mind kind of blank, until she finds herself at the Conference Room. Deep in thought, she sits on one end of the table. It feels like she's at the Ushiromiya mansion dining room, sitting near the end, where her seat was because she's the last person in the inheritance row. After a moment she puts her head in her hands, staring at the wooden surface of the table]

...

[Yeah, she's still feeling stunned. She'd feel so much better if she had Rudolf to rely on, but she has nobody to rely on like that. What's she supposed to do now?]

Conference room

[ Elda walks into the room with the same notepad which was handed out at the trial for people to sign. It's her sketch book, and she came in here to try to access her memories in the form of sketching.

But...

... Huh. No one's Ever in this room. It's odd, given all their meetings they never seem to use it. She's had it as a private enough place before now. And seeing a woman with a head in her hands...

Well.

She sits opposite the woman, slapping the notepad down a little harder than was needed. ]

[As per usual, Rin doesn't eat breakfast. Head aching and full of cotton, she woke up a little later today and made her way to the kitchen for a cup of tea when she was feeling halfway presentable. Still bleary and focused on troublesome thoughts, she probably only noticed Kyrie for a moment or two before noticing the woman had left altogether.

That was strange. Doesn't she usually say hello?

Later in the day, when she's passing by the conference room on the way to the sewing room, it feels twice as peculiar when she spots Kyrie there, looking like that.]

Ushiromiya-san. [The greeting is polite, but forthright.] You look as though you've witnessed your own funeral.

[...Aha. Ahaha. Fuck her entire life, she was both right and wrong about that. Fucking Leon, of all people...was he going to be the end of her?

The morning sees Sayaka...in a surprisingly focused sort of state--she makes a quick trip to the foyer, going into Alena's office for a moment before returning with a key, and unlocking the door to Room 26, mostly...well, for her own sake, admittedly. It feels a bit somber, after all of this, to be in here. But she does...look around a bit, and seem to find some notes, and...

...Woah. She...she needs a moment to just kind of sit down and take this all in. It's detailed as hell, and Sayaka can't help but be in utter awe of everything she's reading. So many symbols, and their meanings--ones that can help her, and help make her alchemy work. It's so wonderful, really--the door is open for anyone else who wants to come in, though Sayaka will be keeping an eye out for anyone who tries to do something she won't like. She's just...gonna be a while, in here, reading the notes mainly.

Of course, Sayaka's gonna explore the new floor a bit as well later in the day--the art studio gets most of Sayaka attention today, and she's gonna be there with a large pad of paper, her notes, and a multitude of pencils. One can hear her babbling to herself as well--]

So I definitely want to use terra as my centerpiece, here--if I use air and water, maybe that would grant the sort of effect I want? With terra in the center, air infusing the ground with terra's power, and...hmm. Would I need water, though? I wouldn't be manipulating a liquid, but maybe it would purify the ground...but maybe that would mess with the soil? Hmm. Or maybe that creation symbol, with terra in the middle--it would probably need more of the raw materials, probably the seeds...

[...she's gonna be like this for a good while, hopefully nobody minds the nerd babble. She seems to be having fun with it, though, and she's smiling far easier? It's kind of awesome.]

[ ...Well, that sucked. Aligula wakes up mad and also by falling out of bed, just to add insult to injury about falling from the sky. Her boyfriend punched harder, huh...? She'll have to try better next time!! But there isn't a next time, is there? From what she's dreamed (remembered) she doesn't try again, because she's helping that guy with his plan, and then the city's in the middle of its next collapse or whatever...

She's not subdued when she comes out of her room—she's a little late in coming out, something like eleven compared to her usual ten or so, but subdued? No, she's ever the bundle of energy she ever is, though she stops at Alena's office first. After that, she's bouncing up the stairs to their new floor!! The workshop gets a peek into but ultimately passed over, because it's boring; the chemistry lab is a little more interesting, but she's more medical than chemical, so she doesn't stay long.

The art studio, though. This is where she'll be spending a lot of time... though she'll be investigating the art storage specifically. There's a lot of junk there; maybe something in it's interesting.

Regardless, she's psyched as hell about the fact she has colors now. Just in time too, in a way.

Afterwards, you can find her either in the kitchen, working on her cooking skills like she's been doing, or in the sewing room, where she seems to have a list of measurements for people (or guesstimates for those she didn't get to actually measure) and a lot of red fabric. ...This certainly can't be anything ominous, right? ]

[ what an unpleasant dream. it's one that's left many questions and has left orihime in a sour mood for the day. like always, she's going to put on a smile and pretend like nothing's happened, but... there's going to be something off about her.

which is why she's going to keep herself busy and investigate the art studio. she enters, and she's impressed with how large it is! let's take a look at the kiln first.

when she's not investigating, orihime will be sketching something in the art studio, canvas up on the easel as she works away at her art piece. it appears to be....a giant alien of some sort? who even knows.

later on, she can be seen in the sewing room making something with her hands with some of the thread. the colors here are white and brown. it looks like they're being braided together...what could it be? ]

Susan seems in decent spirits today, especially when you consider everything that happened over the weekend. She takes a quick breakfast in the kitchen, and for once she actually keeps going after she's made enough for herself. Does anybody else want any blueberry pancakes?

After that, she goes up to explore the new floor, and gravitates quickly to the art room. For a while she examines the painting materials with interest, but when she finally takes a canvas and puts it on an easel, it appears that it's only to...measure it several times with a long piece of coiled wire? She draws a mark on the wire that measures up to a few canvas-lengths long, about her own armspan.

For the rest of the afternoon, you can find her out and about, using her wire to measure out all of the hallways and rooms that she can access. She's noting it all down on a pad, and in the evening she settles down in the conference room to sketch out a proper set of maps. It's helpful to visualize everything, all together like that. And...
