WEEK 5 Tabitha Smith, Sigrun Eide, and Solf J Kimblee are all dead. Regardless of what you think of the trial or the events leading up to it, there's no denying that you can feel the dent in your numbers now. After all, ten people are gone now. It may be hard, but all you can do is keep going. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... What with Jericho's excitement at the last trial, it's evident now more than ever that the new floor that's opened up to you is a gift, a reward for a job well-done. Because while surviving is something that you'll continue to try to do of your own merit...well. Let's say that he's so, so very proud of you. How quickly I'm summoned will depend on how things go, but I'll have business to attend to in London.

[Besides Susan, who as Hibiki has already said, is amazing.]

...Mm, well there's many things, namely the institution I wish to study at in a few years. The same location serves as the headquarters of the Mage's Association, as well.

[Oh. Right. Magic.]

I forgot all about that. You and I are probably from different Japans, huh? Magic ain't real where I come from.

[So, Rin couldn't visit her to begin with.]

Why would you be headin' straight there?

[heritrix]

[Probably not! But hey, if it exists you're probably better off not knowing about it anyways, Hibiki.]

It's a hassle, but they'll want to decide what to do with me.

[brandnewday]

Decide what to do with ya? Why? Are ya in trouble or somethin'?

[heritrix]

Yeah. [She gives Hibiki a tight-lipped smile.] I'm not sure how much yet, but they won't let me off easily for letting Jericho expose my secret.

[brandnewday]

Huh? But...but that's not your fault! None of this is your fault!

[heritrix]

Like it or not, I did have some say in it. It would upset you if I went into the whole thing, so let's just say the Mage's Association have strict standards, and leave it at that.

[brandnewday]

Um...are you sayin' you don't want to tell me, or that you think I can't handle it? Because if it's coming from you, I don't mind hearing it.

[heritrix]

[...

There's a heavy pause as Rin considers this, and she leans back just slightly, so her shoulder blades touch the walls. Alright, then.]

There's still a chance I can swing things in a positive direction, but I'll probably be in trouble either way. Right now, I'd say there's an 80% possibility that the Mage's Association will choose to execute me.

[Hibiki's face says more than she can. Her eyes go wide with shock and fear. Rin? Executed? For something that isn't even her fault? Choosing not to kill is the kind of thing that should be commended, not damned. Her fingers dig into her pants, clutching anxiously where she's sitting. She has all the body language of someone who wants to cry out and yell.

And then it comes. It's hurting her so bad to be like this, but...but she told Rin. She told Rin she can handle it.]

And...and how does that make you feel, Rin?

[heritrix]

[...She probably shouldn't have said anything. Rin can tell how hard this is for Hibiki; she really is a cruel person putting this on her, isn't she?

But the reassuring smile Rin gives her now isn't fake.]

I'll go through whatever circus show they put me in. It's going to be troublesome, but there's still a chance it'll work out in my favor. And if not, there's no need to worry. If it goes south, I'm already working on my escape plan. If he's still alive, there's at least one person back home I know I can count on to help me.
