Week 8.

WEEK 8 Regardless of what you think of the most recent deaths, four more people have died this week. Milla Maxwell, Angel, Susan Ashworth, and Aligula are gone now, leaving you with about a quarter of your original number. Thirty-five down to twelve - this can't keep going for much longer, can it? Is there anything you can do? Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Unlike the previous weeks, however, it seems that either you've reached the end of the line or Jericho has decided to stop rewarding you for your effort; where there would usually be a stairwell to a new floor, you're met with nothing but solid wall. Perhaps it's distressing; perhaps it's a good sign. Only time will tell, and time isn't something you have a lot of around here. PARTICIPANTS REMAINING: 12

[Sayaka knows better than to push too much, but she's gonna go take a seat by Luca with a smile.]

...It's no trouble, Rideaux-san.

[She could leave now, if she wanted. She knows she probably should, because it sounds like he genuinely needs the space to just...do whatever he planned to do. Sulk? Break something? She's not sure, but...]

I do. It's pretty crushing to find that sort of thing out...it's best to take the time and make space for yourself, so that way you can try to process it, and do whatever you need to do. [Sayaka smiles a bit.] It's different for everyone...but take your time with it. And as much as you need to, for your own sake.

But...know that you're not alone in this place, okay?

[...She'll start to walk off after she says that, having said her piece.]

[...You know, it's a sad thing when Sayaka can say that the motive barely even effects her--she winces a bit at Jericho's talk, about "good people", but...

She's not wavering. These people mean a lot to her, and she won't sacrifice them.]

[Oh, hey partner in crime. Sayaka waves a bit.]

Ah, honestly...it's kind of just boredom? But then again, that--er, Cooridinator-san allowed us to do this seance, of sorts. So...I thought it would be at least kind to try and save her some headache.

[...Basically, she's way too goddamn nice sometimes? She shrugs, though.]

...yes, you may be right. [That kind of improves Kyrie's mood. Yeah, maybe there are hidden doors somewhere!] Speaking from experience it's possible opening a hidden door will involve some kind of puzzle. The problem is finding where it is.

Well, she seemed at least a little more fond of this place than the other one. I figure it'd...work as a bit of thanks for not, you know. Getting cruel with us for attempting something.

[...There's awkward feelings, there, but Sayaka just smiles.]

I think Coordinator-san had enough of a scare, to say the least.

...You wanna keep her safe. I get it. [ She rubs at her eyes with her- her brother's- jacket. ] Just- i-it won't be good for any of us if we're trying to force a square peg in a...round whatever.

[ LIKE HOW DOES SHE TALK ABOUT THIS... ]

It's- no, it's okay. They're not...they're just kinda...in here. [ She taps her head lightly. ] I'm...handling them. ...They can't really even do anything.

I wouldn't mind a pet in general... [ They don't have anything else to do, so. ] I've never. You?

Oh yeah? Does that mean you're going to make the game easy for me?

[ Yuri's throwing the dice now. It's not a bad roll but not a good one either--he moves his piece five spaces from the starting point. ]

Didn't expect that from a detective.

I think I'll be able to easily keep up over here.

[ Yuri finishes putting his ships here or there. ]

If no one has, we could always give a try looking through it now.

[ Where there's a will, there's a way! Or something. ]

I think there's only a few places we haven't exactly looked into yet, so it'd bring down at least the number of spots we could check at least.

You're right, of course.

[He sighs.]

We need to stop this. With the way things are going...

[They're nearly down to a third of their original number, if it gets much lower...]

[He slowly lowers his hands again so he can look back at Yuri. Laying all of that out there in the open was hard, and he looks worked up from it. But...hearing Yuri back him up like that actually helps. It's almost relieving in a way, to hear this from an outsider of what he's had to deal with for the majority of his life. That someone else sees it as an incredibly shitty situation, just like he always thought it was.]

...I appreciate it, Yuri.

[He lets his hands rest in his lap, keeping his gaze steady on Yuri for a moment before looking to the side.]

Do you recall when I said I was homeless for a time? That...is when I was taken in. Bisley, he... He discovered that I had the Chromatus, and so he offered me shelter, money...a life I never knew, in exchange for my service at Spirius. Of course I accepted, but by the time I realized what sort of situation I was truly in, I was already trapped into it. I had no choice but to devote myself in the hope that someday I would get to have a normal life once the test was complete.

["...The job chose me, so to speak."

He clenches his hands into fists as well at this point.]

When I was promoted to Director of Dimensional Affairs, I truly thought I was going to be safe when the time for a bridge came. I should've known better. I- I made an attempt to escape, but they...

[He actually laughs a little bit about that.]

Yes, even though she's bound by rules, it's not really in our best interests to bite the hand that feeds us. In... a metaphorical sense.

Well, color me surprised. Or maybe not so much, considering that she didn't kick our ass for that.

Well, as long as you can handle it. I'd... hm. Like I said, I really wouldn't know anything about that. My old boss was the spirits guy, and I tended to tune him out when he started going on about them.

[ Yuri feels more anger well up in him. For what it is worth, Bisley is one of the very few people who get the lovely honor of Yuri wishing fervently for to wind up death or worse. Which may be an accomplishment of some sort, considering, but. Yeah.

He needs to take another moment, and that's easy enough to do when knowing he's needed for support now. When Rideaux's finished up there, he'll reach out, kind of without thinking at first to rest a hand gently on his shoulder - the presence is light, ready to pull it away if the touch is unwelcome, even if it's meant to be comforting. ]

Hey, there's no need to apologize. All of that's difficult to deal with, so it's only natural you're gonna be like this. Hell, right now I think it's amazing you're managing to even tell me any of this - that requires a lot of inner strength that not many people would have. Or, that's what I believe anyway.

... No one can fault you for thinking that bastard wouldn't pull what he did, after you got the position you did. It was completely underhanded - I don't know what they did to make you stay, but they shouldn't have did that either. I really do hope they reap what they sow.

[ Yuri takes another pause, his eyes swimming with emotions as he's still looking at the man beside him. Anger, frustration, concern, empathy, and... something more warm, more gentle right now. ]

You know, Rideaux, even with all of that said, there's something else I'd like you to know:

Even if you're lost, you're not going to be facing this alone, alright? I promise I'll be here, right by your side, ready to continue giving you a hand or an ear when needed, and every step of the way as eventually you find your way again. Even if it's going to be hard, I can guarantee you that much.

[It takes a few seconds longer--her look going a little intrigued as she seems to mess with the boat order a few times, before seeming to nod her head in satisfaction.]

Okay! Ready, Yuri-san! Should we do anything special if we manage to destroy one another's ships?

Well, that's obvious enough.

[...Even if Sayaka seems to snicker a bit at it, wiping the floor while thinking a bit.]

But...yeah. Obviously we don't have to be buddy-buddy with her--I know I sure won't--but...I don't know. If Coordinator-san likes this place, it should at least be taken care of a bit.

Honestly, at this point, I hope Jericho-san is the one cleaning up all of these messes. Preferably with a toothbrush!

...I'm glad she didn't. I...missed quite a few of those people. To see them all again, it...really made me happy.

[It was probably obvious by the way she looked kind of struck, there, but she waves that away.]

Oh, of course! I'd love all of the hands I could get, honestly! ...I'd just be happy with the company, though.

No idea. She didn't seem to show up for the meeting, but we learned she's on that side.
