WEEK 6.

WEEK 6 You've lost a lot of people this week, haven't you? Katniss Everdeen and Weiss Schnee were killed for rule violations, while Chie Hori and Frank Archer were murdered by Mikoto Suoh and Yuuki Terumi. It doesn't really matter how they died, though, does it? After all, they're dead now and the only thing you can do is keep moving forward. It seems like there's no end in sight. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Changes were promised to you this week; while Sunday dawns seeming no different from the previous weeks, it seems one change is going to remain a constant - namely, a new floor has been opened up to you. Whether this is a promising sign or not is something that you're going to need to decide for yourself. The important thing, for now, is that you continue to do well. PARTICIPANTS REMAINING: 19

... A forest. No, a hill? ... Forested hill, if that's possible to portray.

I could certainly give it my best effort. And... The sky, what would you like that to look like? Clear, or full of stars?

[matchbreaker]

Stars - stars sounds quite preferable.

[bloodbiter]

Of course. I will make note of that.

[A small pause, and then, curious:]

Is it to be modeled after a real place you've been, this forested hill?

[matchbreaker]

It is, though from that description I imagine you will not get the perfect likeness.

[ She tilts her head, frowning. ]

Long before Shihaba became the city it was, we set up our manor on a hill that's now called Sekima Hill. It stands above Kakuzaku Temple and a cemetery. Though I head both of those are abandoned now.

[bloodbiter]

Perhaps not, but I hope it will suffice well enough for your liking.

[Her curiosity remains, though, as she continues to ask.]

Would you tell me more about it? What it was like, livjng there?

Oh it's a splendid house - James and I constructed it ourselves over time, with some additions made over time. [ She nods and smiles, brushing back some hair. ]

The hill puts it apart from the main city, it's on the south end of it and rests dark there. But we've built it into quite the home over time... near the Okura river. There's an extensive basement where we've kept what documents we could bring from the old country or import over time, and many rooms for sitting, drawing, our coffins... It was a warm place, when Henry was growing up and now with my grandchildren.

[bloodbiter]

[Just hearing that description brings a smile to her face. She can tell how fond the description is.]

It sounds like a wonderful place. You really constructed it yourselves? Was it difficult?

[matchbreaker]

Oh it took ages. In all honesty, James did most of the work, an asked for some help from others in the Assembly once we needed to do plumping and such. But we managed it.

[bloodbiter]

I see. And, what is the assembly...?

[matchbreaker]

Oh, it's just the meeting place for all of the vampires of Japan. We meet up once a year to discuss matters. Honestly, it's a lot of people complaining about this and that most of the time.

[bloodbiter]

I see. Is it fairly easy to meet in private? How many of you are there?

[matchbreaker]

It's held far in the north, no one really lives up there. But all three hundred show up... or at least, there's often representatives near that number.

[bloodbiter]

I see. Three hundred... Is that relatively few or a good number, when compared with the overall population of the country? I suppose I'm simply wondering how rare your kind is.

[matchbreaker]

Oh I don't know, humans breed like rabbits. The population these days has to be what... a few dozen million, more? Something like that.

[bloodbiter]

[She goes a bit red at hearing it described so bluntly, but the answer itself is surprising, too.]

That many, in just one country?

[matchbreaker]

Amazing, when you put it like that, isn't it? The world is so big these days.

[bloodbiter]

It seems incredible to me. I don't think my country has even a tenth of that number.

[matchbreaker]

Yeah, back when I was growing up, the whole continent probably only had a hundred million ... ish. For me, that might've been the world.

[bloodbiter]

If I had to guess, I would say mine has less than one hundred thousand... Though I will admit my perception may be skewed, since I only began to explore the area recently. Even one hundred million seems incredible to me.

[matchbreaker]

On the whole continent? Hah, if that's the case, then I'm impressed by the size of it - for being small, I mean.

[bloodbiter]

Oh, no, just one specific country. We are not attached to any particular continent.

[matchbreaker]

So an island nation?

[bloodbiter]

Yes, that's right. Our castle was several miles from the sea.

[matchbreaker]

[ Huh... she didn't see that coming, but she nods all the same ]

The Japan we moved to - where we live now - is also an island. It was weird to be there at first, even if we did live close to the sea back in Europe too.
